It is brought to the notice of all concerned that the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has accorded its sanction under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of "National Bamboo Mission (NBM)" for imparting training to farmers & entrepreneurs etc. on cultivation, management, utilization, value addition for bamboo and bamboo products. Tentative venue and schedule for the trainings to be organised by this office is as below;

Expenditure for lodging, boarding, transportation etc. during the above training will be borne by the office of the undersigned. Applications are invited for the Award of and Book-Grant Scholarship of the Tribal Students of the State of Meghalaya pursuing higher studies in various courses in the recognized Institutions during the calendar year 2008-2009.

The application in prescribe form should he submitted positively by 31st October 2008. The application forms should be submitted through the Head of Institution where they are studying and to forward the same to the office of the undersigned within the prescribe date. No application will he entertained after the above specified date. Those students who are studying outside the State of Meghalaya may collect the form from the office of the undersign on request.

They are also to note that those students securing 60% and above are eligible to apply. Engineering and Medical students are not entitled for Book Grant.

Eligibility:

1. Book Grant will be awarded only once. One is eligible when one secured a minimum of 60% mark in the Final examination and grant will be awarded only in order of Merit in one courses of study.
2. A student must be permanent resident of the State of Meghalaya belonging to Khasi/Jaintia/Garo community.
3. Course of study should be a regular course other than Technical and vocational course in a recognized Institution in any place in India including Meghalaya.
4. That He/She is not employed in any capacity under the government.

Application forms for the students studying within the State of Meghalaya are obtainable from the institution in which the students are studying.

4. His/Her guardian/parents are citizens of India.
5. He/she is not enjoying scholarship within the purview of the Government of India's Post Matric Scholarship to SC/ST and other Scholarship scheme of the central and State Government.
6. That He/She is not employed in any service under the government or any Non-Government establishment
7. He/She is not a repeater in the same class for more than once.

Application in prescribe forms should be submitted through the Head of Institution where He or she is pursuing studies. The last date for receiving applications in this Directorate is 30th September 2008 for Renewal cases and Fresh not later than 31st October 2008.
