PRICES OF ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES

The Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that the following are the wholesale price (in quintals/bag/tin) and the retail price (in kg/litre) of essential commodities as on February, 2007.

The retail price of Rice is 12.00(Common), Rs.12.50 (Fine) and Rs. 14.00(Packet Parimal) The retail price of Atta is Rs.1500 and Maida is Rs 16.00/18.00. While the retail price of Gramdal is Rs. 35.00/38.00. For Turdal, the wholesale price is Rs. 32.00(Ahar), Rs. 28.00/30.00(Masur) and Rs. 42.00/48.00 (Moong). The retail price of Urad (Whole) is 43.00. The retail price of Urad Dal is Rs.35.00/44.00. The retail price of Sugar is Rs.19.00/20.00. The retail price of Mustard Oil is Rs. 55.00/58.00. The retail price of Vanaspati oil is Rs. 54.00/62.00 (loose) and Rs. 65.00 (packet). The retail price of Tea is Rs. 120.00/170.00 (loose) and Rs. 160.00/196.00 (packet). The retail price of Potato is Rs. 08.00/10.00. The retail price of Onion is Rs. 18.00/20.00. The retail price of Salt is Rs. 04.00/05.00(loose) and Rs. 07.00/.09.00(packet). The retail price of Gur is Rs. 22.00/26.00, for palm oil is Rs. 50.00/53.00, for Soya oil is Rs. 53.00/55.00, for sun flower is Rs. 77.00/78.00, for Tomato is Rs. 10.00/15.00, for Brinjal is Rs. 10.00/15.00 and for cabbage the retail price is Rs. 10.00/12.00.

NEW MUNICIPAL TAX STALLED

In a meeting held on February 26, 2007 between the Meghalaya Minister of Urban Affairs and members of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, a decision to form a Review Committee with regards to the new taxes was taken and also the Tax Assessment of all Municipal holdings will be kept in abeyance until further orders. All tax payers who wish to avail the rebate as per rules are allowed to pay the old Municipal Tax within 31st March, 2007.

SECTION 144 CRPC PROMULGATED

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting throwing, spraying and playing of coloured chemicals/substances/powders in public places including thoroughfares in the whole of East Khasi Hills District.

This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till March 5, 2007 orders.
