REVISION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS

Shillong, March 2, 2011: The Chief Electoral Officer and Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Elections Department has informed the general public that the continuous revision of Electoral Rolls in the State is on as per the standing instructions of the Election Commission of India. Any citizen of India who have completed 18 years of age and have not registered his/her name in any part of the country as Elector and an ‘ordinarily resident’ of the State of Meghalaya [i.e., staying in a particular place in the State (it is not necessary that the period of stay should be continuous for any particular length of time and should be without break)] may file his/her claim for inclusion of his/her name in the Constituency where he/she is residing, before the concerned Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or login http://164.100.150.134/erms/index.jsp.

Appeal against the order of the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer concerned may be filed by the aggrieved person before the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya within 15 days enclosing with the certified copy of the order of the ERO/AERO and on payment of Rs. 5/- as the fee prescribed by the Commission.
