ITBP RECRUITMENT

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up the Group ‘C’ posts of Head Constable (Combatised Ministerial) and Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) in Indo-Tibetan Police. Candidates should be between 20 and 25 years with relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.

For Head Constable, candidates should passed 10+2 from a recognized Board with typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. For Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer), candidates should passed 10+2 from a recognized Board with minimum speed of 80 words per minute in English shorthand and 40 words per minute in English typing or minimum speed of 80 words per minute in Hindi shorthand and 25 words per minute in Hindi typing.

Applications duly filled should reach the DIG, SHQ (HP), ITB Police, Himachal Dwar, PO-Taradevi, Distt. Shimla (HP), Pin - 171010 on or before April 15, 2007.

Further, applications are invited from male Indian citizens for filling up the post of Constables (Animal Transport) in the Indo-Tibetan Police Force. Candidates should be between 18 and 25 years of age with relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC and must passed Matriculation from a recognized Board/University/National Open School (National Institute of Open School).

Applications duly filled should reach the Deputy Inspector General, Basic Training Centre, ITB Police, PO-Bhanu Camp, Distt. Panchkula (Hayana) on or before April 29, 2007.

WORKSHOP ON ORGANIC FARMING

As part of the observance of the Year of the Farmer 2007, the Directorate of Agriculture, Meghalaya organized a one day workshop on Organic Farming at the Farmer’s Training Centre, Upper Shillong on February 28, 2007, where Shri. Oris Syiem Myriaw, Rangbah Shnong of 5th Mile Upper Shillong was present as the Chief Guest during the inaugural function. Others present were Shri. A. D. Kynjing, Director of Agriculture, Dr. D. C. Sangliene, Joint Director of Agriculture (Tech), Smti. D. Syiemiong, District Horticulture Officer, other departmental officials. About 100 farmers from 3 C & RD Blocks i.e., Mylliem, Mawphlang and Mairang participated in the workshop.

Speaking during the inaugural function, the Chief Guest exhorted the farmers to be receptive to new technologies and ideas imparted by the department so that they can translate this into better economic livelihood and upliftment of the farming community. He also lauded the department for not only imparting new techniques and scientific methods of farming, but also listening closely to farmer’s needs and problems in order to design better and innovative intervention strategies.

Dr. R.B. Dympep, Deputy Director (Planning), Directorate of Agriculture and Workshop Coordinator gave a keynote address and also highlighted the objectives of the workshop.

In the technical session, lectures on scope, importance and prospects of organic farming, vermicompost including bio-fertilizers were given by various resource persons from the Directorate of Agriculture and Basic Agriculture Training Centre. In the afternoon session, an interactive session was also held to discuss problems and prospects of rice and maize cultivation. The participants highlighted the various problems that they face in this area and solutions were provided by the agricultural experts present during the session.

BULBULS FROM KJP BRINGS LAURELS TO THE STATE

A Contingent of 8 Bulbuls 10 years of age (Junior Guides) from KJP Higher Secondary School, Shillong under the leadership of Miss. Minifer Syiemlieh of KJP and Miss Memorabilia Shabong from State Headquarters of Bharat Scouts and Guides came back with flying colours from the National Club/Bulbul Utsav held at Nizam Uddin, New Delhi from February 20-24, 2007. They were adjudged the best contingent from among 18 states who attended the Camp.

They took part in the play acting on the story of Tara, Inspection parade, drawing and painting competitions, clay modeling, paper cutting handicrafts exhibition and kalarav programme in which they performed Khasi dance, songs and group dances. The smallest girl, Emika Rani who narrated the play so well was selected to present a speech on the occasion of World Brotherhood Day held at the National Headquarters, New Delhi in front of the host of audience.

At the all round performances, the State bagged the 1st position while the 2nd and 3rd position went to the State of Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu respectively.
