DR MUKUL SANGMA RELEASES THE 2 YEARS PERFORMANCE REPORT OF THE MUA GOVERNMENT

Shillong the 3rd May 2012: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma today released the 2 years performance report of the MUA Government and also launched the Meghalaya State Service Delivery Gateway (MSSDG) and the e-gov online services at Yojana Bhavan, Shillong in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers, Mr Rowell Lyngdoh and Mr B M Lanong along with Education Minister, Dr R C Laloo and the Minister for IT, Mr A L Hek among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Meghalaya is the first State in the country to implement the State Service Delivery Gateway and the launching of the MSSDG will enable seamless exchange of data across multiple government departments both at the State and National levels and will also provide accountable and transparent governance. “We will ensure that the people of the State as a whole are benefitted by this service and we will be extending the service upto the block level and beyond”, he assured.

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya SSDG has three basic components such as State Portal, Electronic Forms Application for delivery e-gov services and SSDG Technology Stack. The new State Portal is web 2.0 which is a content based management system while the old one is a website. Through this new State Portal every Department will be able to manage to add and update their contents from their own office itself. The State Portal is a first point of interface for citizens, business and overseas people and the government, hence, represents the electronic face of the government.

The main goals of the State Portal is to consolidate all the information available at the existing state Department website and portals, prioritization of the services provided by the State, digitization of forms related to various government services, standardization of citizen interface, integration of State Government services brought online and other State Government initiatives.

With the State portal there are around 33 government services available to the citizens of Meghalaya, through e-form application across the State. These services belong to 14 different line departments

The e-gov online services is to make the government delivery mechanism more simpler and easier for the citizens of the State to avail and receive the government services available through the CSC or from their residences. There are around 19 online services which the citizens can avail at present with the back-end applications interface being computerized and interface with alert SMSes, all these services are being hosted in the Meghalaya online Portal https://meghalayaonline.gov.in. Through this portal the citizens will be able to file their applications online for getting the Tribe Certificate, application for job recruitment in the MPSC, application for post matric and merit cum mean scholarship, etc,. Newly eligible voters in the State can file their application for inclusion in the Electoral Rolls online.

While referring to the 2 years performance report of the MUA government, Dr Mukul Sangma said that the report is a revisit to the time when all put their efforts together to realize the aspirations of the people and to show the people what the Government has done as promised on day one. He thanked the coalition partners in the Government for their cooperation and support in ensuring development in the State. He said that the priority of the Government is to ensure that poverty and backwardness are removed from the State by providing ample opportunities to the people particularly the youth and by designing many mission mode interventions for the welfare of the people of the State. “We want the people to have confidence on this Government and we are involving them in the development process as partners” he added.
