YASHWANTRAO CHAVAN NATIONAL AWARD 2018

INTENSIFIED DIARRHOEA CONTROL FORTNIGHT LAUNCHED AT MAWKYRWAT CHC

“Prevention is better than cure”, quoted Miss Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District while launching the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) 2018 and Breastfeeding Week (Mother’s Absolute Affection) which was held today at the Community Health Centre, Mawkyrwat in the presence of Dr. Sharad Babu, WHO Consultant, Doctors and other distinguished guests. Miss Laloo said that the programme was launched with a view to create awareness amongst the public about the importance of prevention and eradication of diarrhoea, a water borne disease which is prevalent among children under 5 years of age and the importance of breastfeeding. She stressed upon the importance of creating awareness at the grassroot level. Miss Laloo also informed that the Measles-Rubella Vaccination campaign will be launched soon therefore called upon for support and cooperation of all stakeholders so that no child is left unvaccinated. Dr. Sharad Babu pointed out that diarrhoea is a major cause of death for children under 5years and said that diarrhoea can be eradicate through proper sanitation and hygiene, by cultivating healthy habits, proper treatment. He then called upon for cooperation in order to make the programme successful for a healthy society. Others who spoke on the occasion were Dr. W. L. Narry, Medical & Health Officer, Mawkyrwat C.H.C. Dr. F. R. Lartang, I/c District Medical & Health Officer, South West Khasi Hills District chaired the function.

NOTIFICATION

Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Transport Department has directed the STA/RTA to revise the fares inclusive passenger tax and freights for journey by Mini Bus- State Carriage (other than by city bus/mini bus in Shillong) or contract carriage with immediate effect. Enhancement at the rate of 40 percent . Rs.105 paise per passenger per km (for maximum fare for contract carriage/stage carriage and Mini Bus). Rs.0.60 paise per quintal per km (Personal effect and below 14 kgs). Half the rate below 12 (twelve) years. Rs.0.70 paise per quintal per km (food stuff and forest product), Rs.175 paise per quital per km (furniture) and while calculating the distance fraction of Km shall be taken as 1 km.
