CLEANING DRIVE ORGANISED

The Meghalaya Village Development & Promotion Tourism Cooperative Society Ltd. Shillong in collaboration with the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya, Shillong observed the Swacch Bharat on 2nd October, 2019. Thirteen affiliated registered Cooperative Societies from Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi undertaken Promotion and Development of Rural Tourism participated in the Cleaning Drives of their respective Tourist Spots/Traveller’s Nest. “Plastic Free Zone Area” Notice Boards were also put up for the caretakers, visitors and tourists to safeguard the hazardous littering of plastic bottles, bags/ packets etc. The objective of the cleaning drive is to motivate the community to keep their Tourist Spots/ Traveller’s Nest clean and to permanently avoid using of plastic water bottles, bags/packets. The participation of the community and school going children is inspiring and their awareness on the importance of cleanliness can reduce the affect of the environment and preserve the beauty of the nature for future generation.

ACTIVATION OF MOBILE SQUADS FOR INSPECTION OF GOODS IN MOVEMENT

The office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government of Meghalaya informed all tax payers causing movement of goods in Inter-state or Intra-state trade and commerce of consignment value exceeding Rs. 50,000/- only, with the exclusion of goods covered under Annexure appended to Rule 138 (14) of the Meghalaya Goods and Service Rules, 2017, that in accordance with provision of Section 68 of the Meghalaya Goods and Service Tax Act, 2017 and rules thereof,s such consignments may be subjected to inspection by specially designated mobile squads. This order shall come into effect from 5th October, 2019. This was informed by the Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya.
