DISTRICT COORDINATION COMMITTEE HELD

Shillong, November 15, 2012: The District Coordination Committee was held on 14th November 2012 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Office, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin. Mr. S Kharlyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District, chaired the meeting.

All the officers from different department including Mairang Sub-Division were present at the meeting. Developing departments brought forward their issues in the meeting for discussion and also to solve the problems within the district. The improvement of National Highway 44 (E), construction of office building and office quarters, water supply to different offices and electricity failures at PHC, CHC were also discussed during the meeting.

MEGHALAYA PARTICIPATES IN THE IITF 2012

Shillong, November 14, 2012: The 32nd edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14th to 27th November 2012 was inaugurated today by the President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in the presence of Mikhail V. Myasnikovich, Prime Minister of Belarus as the Guest of Honour while Mr. Anand Sharma, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Textiles presided over the inaugural function.

Different States and Union Territories, Ministries, Foreign countries like China, Cuba, Egypt, Ghana, UAE, Russia, Pakistan and many others participates in the IITF 2012. The theme for this year is “Skilling India”.

Meghalaya Pavilion was inaugurated by Mr. A. T. Mondal, Minister of Information and Public Relations in presence of Smti M. H. K. Marak, Commissioner and Secretary, I&PR, Mr. H. M. Shangpliang Director of I&PR, officials from different Departments and entrepreneurs.

Departments participating in the IITF-2012 at Meghalaya Pavilion include DIPR as Nodal Department, Agriculture and Horticulture, Tourism, Forest, Mineral Resources, Commerce and Industries, Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Handloom and Handicraft Development Cooperation along with entrepreneurs and artisans drawn from different parts of the State.

It may be mentioned that the theme for Meghalaya Pavilion this year is “Year of the Youth” in which photographs of eminent sports personality and youth related activities of the State are displayed in the Pavilion along with different activities performed by various Government Departments. The main products exhibited in the Meghalaya Pavilion include processed food and agro products, handloom and handicrafts.
