VEHICLE SEIZED

The Police of Jaintia Hills District on the direction received from the District Election Officer, Jaintia Hills have today seized 5 (five) numbers of vehicles belonging to different political parties.

These vehicles were found violating the Election Commission directive to obtain prior permission for utilization of Electioneering.

These vehicles consist of one Maruti car private belonging to N.C.P. of Jowai constituency, one Alto private car belonging to U.D. P. Jowai constituency, one Bolero private belonging to U.D. P. Nangbah-Wahiajer constituency, one Jeep belonging to I.N.C. Nartiang constituency and one Gypsy belonging to U.D.P. Sutnga constituency.

All these vehicles were seized this afternoon.

NOMINATION PAPERS OF 24 CANDIDATES FOUND VALID IN RI-BHOI DISTRICT

In Ri-Bhoi District, Nomination papers of 24 candidates were found valid, viz. 4 (four) candidates from 10 Nongpoh Assembly Constituency, 5 (five) candidates from 8-Mawhati Assembly Constituency, 6 (six) candidates from 9-Umroi Assembly Constituency and 9 (nine) candidates from 11-Jirang Assembly Constituency.

One candidate of MDP from 10-Nongpoh Assembly Constituency, Mr. Robin Son Dkhar has withdrawn his nomination paper on February 18, 2008.

SHIFTING OF AUXILIARY POLLING STATIONS

The District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin has informed that Auxiliary Polling Stations for 24-A and 25-B Pyndengrei under 34-Nongstoin (ST) Assembly Constituency have been created at St. Peter’s LP School Building (East Wing-Male and West-Wing-Female) and the polling areas are Siejlieh, Tiehsaw, Mawrusyiar, Ladweitang and Mawiong Lumsyntiew.

Another Auxiliary Polling Station for 2-A Rangthong under 35-Langrin (ST) Assembly Constituency have been created at Rangthong Christian Secondary School Building and the polling areas are Keniong, Nongdewsaw, Kensimphlang, Mawlyngngad, Mawlieh and Mawlar.

Further, 14-A Wasih Polling Station and 18-Khongjowai under 35-Langrin (ST) Assembly Constituency have been shifted from Umsih Government LP School building to ICDS Centre Upper Puksora and Government LP School Khongjowai to Khongjowai Deficit Upper Primary School.

While the 27-Riangshi Polling Station under 36-Mawthengkut (ST) Assembly Constituency has been shifted from Riangshi LP School to RCLP School, Kanshushik.
