NOTIFICATION

Shillong, February 21, 2011: To ensure compliance of all trucks, especially coal carrying trucks, plying in the State of Meghalaya with the stipulations of the Order of the Supreme Court for trucks of 16.2 GVW with two axles to carry a load of about 9MT, the State Government has stipulates under Section 113(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 that all coal carrying trucks with this specification shall have a body height restricted to a maximum of 1 metre, measured from the surface of which the body rests, while plying within the State of Meghalaya.

Further, the State Government prohibits entry and plying of such coal carrying vehicles within Meghalaya, along the NH-44 Shillong-Jowai-Malidar, NH-44E Nongstoin-Shillong, NH-40 Gauhati-Shillong, NH-62 Dudnoi-Baghmara-Dalu and the State Highway from Nongstoin-Tura via Shallang, that do not conform to the body height restriction of 1 metre as referred to above.

This Notification shall take effect from February 22, 2011.

SUBSIDY SCHEME

Shillong, February 21, 2011: The District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officer, Ri Bhoi District, has informed the general public that application form for the Subsidy Scheme for general category and Educated Unemployed Scheme 2010-2011 is available in his office.

Interested persons may collect the application form from March 1, 2011. Last date for submission of filled in application should reach the office on or before March 24, 2011.

DR. LAPANG INAUGURATES VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE AT UMSNING

Shillong, February 21, 2011: The Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya and local MLA, Dr. D D Lapang inaugurated the Ri Bhoi Sepngi Presbytery Vocational Training Centre at Nongthymmai, Umsning on February 18, 2011. The infrastructure was constructed under the SGSY Scheme at the cost of Rs. 5.50 lakhs along with the contribution from the Church. Others who were present on the occasion were Mr. D Khymdeit, Chairman of MCCL as the Guest of Honour, Rev. K E Rympeit, Moderator of Ri Bhoi Synod and Rev. L S Nongphlang.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang said that the mission took tremendous effort in providing social and community service by setting up schools, colleges, hospitals which are the basic needs of the people which have immensely benefit the people of the District. Expressing appreciation on the achievements contributed by the Ri Bhoi Sepngi Presbytery to uplift the society particularly the youth by setting up the vocational training centre. Dr. Lapang hoped that the training provides in the centre will encourage the youth to stand on their own feet through self-employment.

MHHDC TO ORGANIZE EXHIBITION-CUM-SALE

Shillong, Rymphang 21, 2011: The office of the Meghalaya Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited will organize the Gandhi Shilp Bazar, an exhibition-cum-sale of handloom and handicrafts products from 23.2.2011 to 4.3.2011 at the State Central Library, Shillong. Participants from other States are also taking part in the exhibition.

Artisans and entrepreneurs who have the Artisans Identity Card issued by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) are also invited to take part in the exhibition.
