DISTRICT BLINDNESS CONTROL SOCIETY JAINTIA HILLS RECONSTITUTED

In a meeting on October, 2008 at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills, Jowai, the District Blindness Control Society, Jaintia Hills District was reconstituted with the Deputy Commissioner Jaintia Hills District, Mr. S Goyal as the Chairman and the Technical Adviser District Blindness Control Society, Jaintia Hills, Dr. H S Nonghuloo as the Member Secretary. Besides the above, ten other members were also inducted into the Society which were drawn from different government departments, including one from Bansara Eye Care Centre, Shillong.

The District Blindness Control Society also decided that the screening and operation camp will be conducted on the 5th and 6th December, 2008.

SAINIK SCHOOLS ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2009-2010 SESSION

Entrance Examination for admission of boys to Sainik Schools affiliated to the CBSE for 2009-2010 Session for both Classes VI and IX will be held on 04-01-2009 except Sainik School, Nagrota (J & K) for which separate Entrance Exam will be held by that School. Eligibility of boys in order to take the exam for admission to Class VI and IX should be between the age of 10 to 11 years and 13 to 14 years as on 01-07-2009 respectively.

Necessary advertisement inviting application will be issued by the Sainik Schools individually or in group in October 2008. The last date of receipt of application will be 10-12-2008. 15 p.c. and 7.5 p.c. seats are reserved for admission of boys belonging to SC and ST respectively while 25 p.c. seats are reserved for the boys of service personnel including ex-servicemen. The admission of boys in Sainik Schools is made strictly in accordance with merit in the Entrance Examination and subject to medical fitness.

EXTENSION OF DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS

The Principal JNV Mawphlang has informed that the last date for submission of application forms for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test-2009 has been extended to October 31, 2008. Forms can be collected from JNV Mawphlang and the office of the Inspector of Schools, Shillong.
