FOREIGNERS TO PRODUCE PASSPORT AND VISA

Shillong, March 22, 2012: The office of the Superintendent of Police-cum-Foreigners Registration Officer (SP-cum-FRO) has received notice that most of the religious groups/government undertakings/NGOs/education institutions/musical groups etc in East Khasi Hills are engaging/inviting foreigner nationals for various activities of their respective organization/ religion etc who are holding visas which are not in conformity with the activities carried out by them. Therefore, the office of the SP-cum-FRO has requested all the religious groups/government undertakings/NGOs/ educational institutions/ musical groups etc to instruct those foreigners engaged/invited by them to produce their travel documents, i.e., Passport/Visa at the time of arrival to the office of the Superintendent of Police-cum-Foreigner’s Registration Officer, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, for verification of their travel documents and to ensure that such foreigner(s) should come with the appropriate Visa in conformity with the activities to be undertaken by them.

If any foreigner(s) is/are found engaging in any activity which is in contravention to the Visa Rules, legal action will be initiated against the individual as per the provisions of the Foreigners Registration Act, 1939 and Foreigners Registration Rules, 1992.

ASHA CONVENTION 2012

Shillong, March 22, 2012: The Department of Health & Family Welfare, East Khasi Hills District, will organize the “Accredited Social Health Activist’s (ASHA) Convention-2012” under National Rural Health Mission on March 23, 2012 from 10:00 AM at U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong. ASHA’s Convention is a programme initiated under NRHM to bring together all ASHAs in the district and also to felicitate the best performing ASHAs. Dr. P W Khongjee, Parliamentary Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Different activities will be organized during the one day programme. All ASHAs in the District are invited to attend the convention.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME HELD AT THAINTHYNROH

Shillong, March 22, 2012: The Office of the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills District organized a Village Level Sensitization programme on Disaster Management at Thainthynroh, under Mawphlang C &RD Block on 22nd March, 2012. The programme was well attended by the people of Thainthynroh and Phanniewlah villages.

The Resource person includes Mr. P. Marbaniang, retired Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations and State Resource Person, MATI for Disaster Management, Mr. B. Kharsamai, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations and Mr. K. S. Marbaniang, Range Forest Officer, Social Forestry.

Mr. P. Marbaniang in his power point presentation explain about the concept of Disaster Management with detail emphasis on role and responsibilities of each and every denizen in disaster risk management to capacitate them to tackle any eventuality before, during and after any crisis. He also dwelled in detail about the importance to formulate Village Disaster Management Committees in different villages and the activities related to this.

Mr. B. Kharsamai during his speech enlightened the important of organising Disaster Management programme in different localities so that people will become aware about the preparedness, prevention and mitigation or reduction the impact of any disaster such as earthquake, cyclone and flood etc.
