NOTICE

Shillong, January 23, 2013: The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills District has informed all government employees that appointment orders have been issued to all the polling officers for the ensuing LA Elections 2013 whose names have been forwarded by respective Head of Office. All said employees are to report at State Central Library on January 24, 2013 at 10:00 AM positively, failing which, action as per law will be taken.

MEGHALAYA DAY CELEBRATED IN WJH

Shillong, January 23, 2013: West Jaintia Hills District joined hands with the State to celebrate the 41stStatehood Day in the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong , Jowai on January 21, 2013. The celebration began with a Marathon Run in the morning.

W.Laloo one of the senior citizens of Jowai who was the Chief Guest at the function called upon all citizens to follow the principles of our founders and to maintain peace and tranquility in our District. The Guest of Honour, K. Tariang in his speech briefed about the selfless struggle contributed by our founders in attaining our statehood and therefore invites every citizens of Meghalaya to have the same spirit for the development of our state.

The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, P.S Dkhar in his introductory speech called upon all to dedicate with commitment to their job. He said the development of the State depends on each one of us, so as responsible citizen we should work with cooperation and with sincerity.

It may be mentioned that as part of the celebration, drawing and painting competition was held on 18th January, 2013 for the Junior and Senior category on the Theme “Unity In Diversity” and “Free Fair and Peaceful Election” where the winners were awarded cash prize of Rs.5000/- Rs.3000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively.

The winners for the marathon were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20000/- Rs. 10000/- and Rs. 5000/- respectively.

Other highlights of the day were dance performed from two block of the District.
