DEPUTY CM INAUGURATES UPPER PRIMARY SCHOOL AT PDENGKARONG VILLAGE, AMLAREM

The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr. Bindo M Lanong, inaugurated the Pdengkarong U.P. School (SSA) and also laid its foundation stone at Pdengkarong village in Amlarem Sub Division, Jaintia Hills District today, the 22nd of December 2010. The U.P. School was constructed under the SSA scheme and cost Rs 6, 80, 00 to build.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lanong, stressed on the need for rural communities to feel a sense of ownership for the assets created under the government’s different development schemes. He highlighted the importance of proper education in improving livelihoods and cited the huge advances made in agriculture through the use of scientific methods. He concluded by urging the parents in the village to help their children cultivate a love for knowledge from an early age.

The Inauguration witnessed an impressive attendance from the representatives of the War Jaintia region with local MLA, Mr. L. Rymbui, Mr. R.L. Tariang, ex-MLA, 7 War Constituency, Mr. S. Mukhim, MDC, War (West) and Mr. H. Lamin, MDC, War (Central) . The D.C, Jaintia Hills District, Mr. T. Dkhar also attended the function.

The Village Durbar, Pdengkarong, also submitted a Memorandum to the Deputy CM listing the immediate infrastructure needs of the village.
