HEALTH MINISTER INAUGURATES BATAW PHC

The Bataw Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Bataw Village, East Jaintia Hills District was inaugurated on 22nd February, 2020 by Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A.L. Hek in the presence of Social Welfare Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Shri A.L. Hek said that the Primary Health Centre will be a blessing for the village as its presence will make health care services more accessible for the people especially the women of the village. He further said that people should take advantage of all the health facilities available in the PHC. He also highlighted on the state and central schemes and benefits available for women which included financial help and medical support for the first ante-natal check-up until the time of delivery in government health institutions. Speaking on the importance and the benefits of Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS), he urged the people to enroll themselves into the scheme as it will improve the quality of health services and also reduce the expenditure on healthcare and medical expenses.

Social Welfare Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla in his speech urged all the Medical officials, staffs and medical field workers to give their sincere commitment and to lend their much needed help and support in order to ensure quality and accessible health care facilities to the people. Others present during the inauguration programme include, Shri Vivekanand Singh, Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. A. War, Director of Health Service (MI), Meghalaya, Shillong, Dr. (Mrs). J. Lakiang, District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat, Shri Bhalang Suchiang, Local Headman, Bataw, Shri Skhembor Shadap, President, South Border Youth Welfare Association and the medical officers of the district.
