FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR THE NEW OFFICE BUILDING OF DRDA

Shillong, May 25, 2013: The Meghalaya Minister for Community and Rural Development, Mr. P. Tynsong today laid the foundation stone of the new office building of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), East Khasi Hills District at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Shillong.

Others who attended the function include Mr. Kenedy C. Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism department, Mr. A. M. Basaiawmoit, MLA Nongkrem Constituency, Mr. T. Chyne, MLA, Sohra Constituency, Mr. K. N. Kumar, Principal Secretary, C&RD, Mr. F. Kharlyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary C&RD, Mr. J. Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary, ERTS, Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DRDA, East Khasi Hills District, Dr. B. D. R. Tiwari, Director, C&RD and Block Development Officers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tynsong said that plans and policies of the Community and Rural Development department will be translated into realities for the all round development of the rural areas. He further said that the Government with an infrastructural development and the implementation of new schemes is committed to make sure that changes are taking place in the rural areas and the income generation of the people is encourage and the rural economy increase from year to year. Mr. Tynsong urges all the officers and staff of the District Rural Development Agency to serve with honesty and dignity and make this building a place for rural people.

Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DRDA, East Khasi Hills District informed that the new office building of the DRDA will comprise of ground floor and 3 storeys to be constructed in an areas of 2300 sq. feet within the premises of office of the Deputy Commissioner at an estimated cost of Rs.78.58 lakhs targeted to be completed within this financial year.
