FIRST AID AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING HELD

Shillong August 25, 2010: A Three Day Training on First Aid and Disaster Management for the Counselors and the First Aid School Units of the Junior Red Cross was held recently at the Bharat Scouts and Guides Headquarters, Shillong. The training was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Brach in collaboration with the Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guard, Government of Meghalaya. Altogether 156 Juniors and Counselors from 15 different Schools of Shillong attended the training.

Resource Persons from the Meghalaya Civil Defence and Home Guards imparts training on the practical use of valves of First Aid, methods of carrying patients, improvising of stretcher and bandages.

Awareness about Earthquake and precautions to prevent from danger and action to be taken against such calamities if they occur was elaborated by the Instructor of Home Guards and Civil Defence.

EMPLOYMENT OF INTERSTATE MIGRANT PROHIBITED

Shillong, August 25, 2010: In pursuance of the provision under section 6 of the Interstate Migrant Workmen Act 1979, the Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has prohibited employment of Interstate Migrant Workers without registration in the whole of Jaintia Hills District. He also directed all employers of such interstate migrant workers should get their workers registered with the Office of the Registering Officer duly notified by Government vide notification No. LBG. 211/88/Pt.198 dated 21.1.2009 within their jurisdiction i.e (a) Labour Commissioner (b) Deputy Commissioner (c) Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) (d) Extra Assistant Commissioner (e) Block Development Officer within three months time from the date of issue of this order. Non compliance of this order will be prosecuted as per relevant section of the above Act.
