PUBLICATION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS IN DRAFT

The Electoral Registration Officer of 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituencies has prepared the draft Photo Electoral Rolls with reference to 1.1.2018 as qualifying date and in accordance with Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 and is available for inspection in the Polling Station/office of the Electoral Registration Officer. If with reference to the qualifying date, there by any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection at the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged till the 31st October, 2017 in Form 6, 7 or 8 as may be appropriate. Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the ERO office or to the Booth Level Officers i/c Polling Station or send by post to the respective ERO at the DC’s office, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin.

LIST OF POLLING STATIONS IN WEST KHASI HILLS SPECIFIED

The District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills District has specified the list of polling stations of 32-Nongstoin (ST), 33-Rambrai Jyrngam (ST) and 34-Mawshynrut (ST) Assembly Constituencies with the approval of the Election Commission of India. The list of polling stations is available for inspection in the office of the District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin.

DRAFT PUBLICATION OF ELECTORAL ROLL

The Electoral Registration Officer, 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency & 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituency has informed all the Electors of 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency & 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituency that the electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and a copy thereof is available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency & 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituency, during office hours and at all Locating Polling Station from 27th September, 2017 to 31stOctober, 2017. The qualifying date for the preparation of electoral roll is 01-01-2018. If, with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection to the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodge on or before the 31st October, 2017 in Form 6, 6A, 7, 8, 8A as may be appropriate. Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the office of the Electoral Registration Officer, 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency & 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituency or to the Booth Level Officers/Supervisory Officers at designated Location (Polling Station) or sent by post to the Sub-Divisional Officer (Election), I/c Mairang Civil Sub-Division, Mairang, so as to reach the Electoral Registration Officer, 30-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency & 31-Mawthadraishan (ST) Assembly Constituency not later than the aforesaid date. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Garo Hills has also informed that the Draft Photo Electoral Rolls in respect of 46-Phulbari, 47-Rajabala, 48-Selsella, 50-North Tura (ST), 51-South Tura (ST), 52-Rangsakona (ST), 56-Gambegre (ST), 57-Dalu (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituencies prepared with reference to 01-01-2018 as qualifying date have been published. If there be any claim for inclusion of name(s), objections to particulars in any entries etc. it can be done so from 27th October up to 31 of October 2017.

WORLD TOURISM DAY OBSERVED IN CITY

World Tourism Day was observed in Shillong today at U Soso Tham Auditorium, which was attended by Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma as the Chief Guest while Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism etc Kennedy Khyriem was the Guest of Honor. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma said that the World Tourism Day is a moment for all to connect with the prospects of Tourism and its immense potentiality in the state. “It is an important day, relevant and befitting to the state of Meghalaya that has seen a turnaround with increasing footfall of tourists in the state,” he said. “Tourism is one of the most crucial sectors to ensure socio economic transformation for the future development and prosperity of the state,” he added. The Chief Minister added that the government has embarked upon a number of initiatives to optimally realize the benefits of this sector. He also said that Tourism is not a sector that can thrive in isolation and this called for positive and collective action from all departments of the government and the stakeholders.

Dr Sangma said that Tourism being one of the most inclusive sectors in providing livelihood opportunities in a sustainable way, it is important to develop the products of value chain in the Tourism sector. He also said that the World Tourism Day is celebrated with the theme for this year, ‘Sustainable Tourism: Tool for Development’, it is also necessary for all to commit to engage collectively in all those activities which will ensure sustainability. He stated that our vibrant culture and way of life are strengths which can add value to various products in the Tourism sector. Tourism can create multiple spaces of opportunities but it calls for aggressive engagement to sensitize the stakeholders and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship to take advantage of the huge potentialities in the sector he added. He also urged all to participate in the entrepreneurship programmes of the state. The Chief Minister also released a Booklet prepared by the Tourism Department, Meghalaya during the occasion. Also present was Chief Secretary, Meghalaya, Y Tsering, Director, Tourism and Director, Arts & Culture.
