YOUTH, FOUNDATION FOR BETTER FUTURE-CM

Shillong, July 29, 2013: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma inaugurated the 1st Foundation Day celebrations of North Garo Hills District at a Gala event organised by the District administration in collaboration with line departments, civil societies and educational institutions at its Headquarters, Resubelpara on 27th July 2013. During the celebration Dr Sangma also launched the Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement for the district.

Dr Mukul Sangma in his address said that the creation of North Garo Hills and the District Sessions Court at Jowai, is a testimony of Administrative and Developmental Reforms in the state. While acknowledging the sincere and dedicated efforts of the people of North Garo Hills in the creation of the district he urged the people to work harder to sustain the district and make it a model district in the state.

He informed that the establishment of Mini District Secretariats would ease the problems of the people. He maintained that deficiencies should not dilute the commitment level of the officers in delivering services to the people. Taking pride in the fact that Meghalaya will soon be connected for the first time through railway, Dr. Sangma said that North Garo Hills will be the epicenter of socio-economic activities. He said that the railway connectivity will insulate the people from various problems and create opportunities.

Dr. Sangma also informed that grant of 100 million dollars from Asian development Bank has been approved which will be utilized to up scale the education sector and the capitalization is expected to make a difference in the field of education and reduce the percentage of failure of students in various examinations. Commenting on the indispensible role of the youth in building the state he said that the youth are equal stakeholders who are more receptive to new ideas and sensitizing them will bring a change in the society. While emphasizing on the need to give due attention to Sports and games the Chief Minister said that the government is striving to take Football on a higher level and informed that every district would have a football stadium fulfilling FIFA requirements. He also announced that a 100 Bedded Hospital for Resubelpara will be sanctioned this year.

Dr Sangma later awarded a certificated to the cleanest locality in Resubelpara and launched the Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement. The highlights of the day long festival were the Drum Ensemble by the Mendal Don Bosco School Students, Food Festival and a Rock Concert by various local artists. The winners of Meghalaya Icon 2013, Restless Desire also enthralled the gathering during the celebration.

DISTRICT AND SESSION JUDGE COURT INAUGURATED

Shillong, July 29, 2013: The Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma along with Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice T. Meena Kumari inaugurated the Court of District and Session Judge of West Jaintia Hills at the Office Complex of the Deputy Commissioner, Jowai on 27th July, 2013.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma said the state Government will be inaugurating soon two more Session Judge Court one in Nongpoh and the other in Tura.

India being a democratic country the survival and sustainability of democracy depends on how vibrant our Judicial System, the Chief Minister, informed that due to the delay of disposal of cases, therefore the Government of India along with different State Government came out with the administrative reform giving the organization separate integrated reforms in order to ensure the system of administration of Justice remains vibrant and effective.

The focuses of the Government in establishing District & Session Judge Court is to expedite cases and deliver Justice, this will also help the Police Department who are tied up with their duties in solving cases and investigation said Chief Minister. Further elaborating on the Government effort, Dr. Mukul Sangma called for cooperation of the people, he said all Developmental programmes can be expediently carried out when there is peace and harmony, and when people are self regulating. He at same time assured that the Government will equip with the requirements of the District Court.

Justice T. Meena Kumari Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya emphasize on the importance of the District & Session Judge Court in the District ensuring its effective functioning at the same time giving importance to the local custom.

Deputy Chief Minister, R. C Laloo also the Local MLA in his short speech sincerely thank the Government for inaugurating the first District and Session Judge Court of the State after Shillong in West Jaintia Hills District. He hopes that with the presence of the District & Session Judge court it will help to expedite cases and deliver justice.

The Inaugural function was attended by Prof. R.C Laloo, Deputy Chief Minister & Education Minster, Justice T. Nanda kumar Singh, Judge of High Court of Meghalaya, L.M Sangma, Law Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, B. Giri, District Judge, JHADC CEM, District Heads, Local headmen and others. The Meghalaya Chief Minister and the Meghalaya Chief Justice of High Court were welcomed by P.S Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District. The vote of thanks was delivered by W.
