SCHOOL DAY CELEBRATED

Shillong, March 30, 2010: The Union Minister i/c Water Resource graced the School Day celebration of St Mary’s Secondary School, Nongkhrah as Chief Guest in function held on March 29, 2010 at the school premises. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were, Mr. S Dhar, MLC of NongbahWahjajer Jaintia hills, Mr. C Lygdoh local MDC, Mr. N A K Syiem BDO of Umling Block.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pala lauded the efforts of the Catholic Mission for their un-tiring efforts in reaching out to the local populace and for their contribution in the field of education. Stating that schools can be used for more than just imparting education, Mr. Pala, urged upon the teachers to devote themselves to the well being of their students and also teach them about other aspects of life such as hygiene and moral science. He also urged upon the students to respect their teachers.

While stressing on the need for the Working Committee of the School to be responsible and work closely with the Dorbar Shnong while undertaking further educational and social development programmes, Mr. Pala also assured to look into the Memorandum submitted by the school.

Other highlights of the day include songs and dances presented by the students of the school.

LOAD SHEDDING NOTICE

Shillong, March 30, 2010: In view of the continuous depletion of water level at the Umiam Reservoir, the supply of electricity to consumers will be regulated with effect from April 1, 2010.

From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, load shedding will take effect in Pine Wood, Shillong Club, BSNL, CPMG, Government Press, DC Office, AG, Lachumiere, Bishop Cotton Road, Raj Bhavan, SBI Main Branch, AIR, Main and Additional Secretariat, GAD, Woodland, NL Complex, Kharmalki, Don Bosco, Boyce Road, Survey of Indian and Upper Oakland, whole of Mawlai except Iewrynghep and Nongpdeng, Motinagar, Firebrigade, Risa Colony, Cleve Colony, ISWP, PGCIL, MES Happy Valley, Mawshbuit, Nongkrem and adjoining areas, part of Madanrting and Laitkor, Lum Jingshai, DIC Industrial Estate.

From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM the areas to be affected are Sunny Hill, Mission, Barabazar, Mahari Pump, Lumkshaid, Part of Police Bazar, Mawprem, Qualapaty, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Lukier Road, Laitumkhrah, Supercare, Nazareth, Mawjrong, Lailyngkot, Mylliem, Mawklot, Sadew upto Mawreng, Mawngap, Mawphlang, Upper Shillong upto 4th Mile, Rangbihbih and surrounding areas, parts of Mawlai Nongmali, Mawroh, Mawkynroh, Umshing, Mawtawar areas, Golf Link, Lumshyiap, Chandmari, Polo, Lawmali, Forest Colony and 6th Furlong.

From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM the areas to be affected are Madan Laban, Lumparing, Pinemount, Parts of Laban, Nongmalki, Nongshiliang, Lumbalang, Chinapati, Mawiongm NEHU, Nongrim Hills, Nongshiliang Bethany hOspital, Uper Mawprem, Jhalupara, Barapathar, Lummawbah, Umlyngka, Nongkseh, Lawsohtun, Mawpat, Langkyrding, Mawlynrei, Tynring, BSF Mawpat, Atomic Energy, MES, S E Falls, New Colony and adjoining areas, Oakland, and adjoining areas, 4th Furlong, Polo Bazar.
