APPLICATION INVITED FOR PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Shillong, May 31, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District invites application/proposals from registered Voluntary Agencies (VAs) and Non-Government Organization (NGOs) under the District for consideration of providing financial assistance during 2009-10 for organizing short term training and short term seminars.

Application forms can be obtained from the District Planning Office, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh on any working days during office hours and last date of submission of applications and proposals is 30th June, 2010.

Shillong, May 31, 2010: The Government of Meghalaya has appointed Mr. J D Rymbai as Chairman of the Meghalaya Economic Development Council with effect from the date of assumption of charge and until further orders.

PUBLIC MEETING AT UMSHAKEN VILLAGE

Shillong, May 31, 2010: Dr. D. D. Lapang, Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya attended a public meeting at Umshaken village amidst large gathering of local populace on May 27, 2010. Other dignitaries include Shri. Donbok Khymdeit, the local MLA and Chairman of MCCL, Pastors of Presbyterian Church, Officers from different departments, students and teachers of different schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. D.D Lapang expressed his gratefulness to the dorbar shnong of Umshaken for inviting him to bthe meeting. He said that Ribhoi District in marching ahead in every aspects and the reason behind that was due to the hard work of the people in Ri-Bhoi, he further stated that Ri Bhoi is a gateway to other districts and calls for the cooperation and the untiring dedication to work of each and every residents of Ri Bhoi towards the development in the district.

Speaking about the needs to build up the economic income of the people he urged upon them for the need to tap the various natural resources available. He also encouraged the people who depend their livelihood on agriculture. He further highlighted on the various schemes and project through horticulture, agriculture department and others, and ask the people of Ri Bhoi to take the advantages of the benefits from such opportunities.

In the meantime, he also urged the school children to work hard and aim high in their studies and to become somebody someday and be a guiding star to others. And he also urged the teachers of different schools to take the role of parents and commit themselves to the future of their students.

He call upon the dorbar shnong to properly utilize the schemes and projects made available to them by the government. And insisted all the Officers of different department to be faithful to their duties to bring development.

Regarding the memorandum submitted to him by the dorbar shnong of Umshaken village for the preparation of Ri Bhoi Presbyterian Synod to be held on March 2011, he pledged to complete the work like road, playground etc before the synod.
