APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INVITED

Shillong, July 29, 2010: The Ministry of Culture, Government of India invites application for financial assistance for schemes under Samarthan focussing on specific themes like Buddhist -Tibetan Culture and Art, Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas and Tribal, Folk Art and Culture.

ADVOCACY AND SENSITISATION MEETING ON HIV AND AID

Shillong, July 29, 2010: The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society in collaboration with the Shillong Bar Association will be organising a Advocacy and Sensitisation meeting on “Human Rights and Legal Issues surrounding HIV and AIDS” on July 31, 2010 at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri. R S Mooshahary will grace the inaugural function as the Chief Guest.

The objectives of the workshop is to get a basic understanding of HIV and AIDS, understand the human rights and legal issues surrounding HIV and AIDS and at the same time gain commitment to initiate Legal Aid for People living with HIV and develop an action plan.

Lawyers, representatives from Meghalaya State Network for Positive People, Non-Governmental Organisations/Civil Society Organisation working in the field of HIV and AIDS and representatives from Social Welfare Department, Police Department and LAW Department are expected to participate in the workshop.
