SECTION 144 CRPC PROMULGATED

The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the illegal, rampant and mass killing of fish and aquatic life forms by using explosives, nets and poison in all rivers, streams throughout river Kupli under Saipung which could harm and kill the fishes and aquatic life. Sport activities and festival that could endanger the fishes and aquatic life is also prohibited under this section. The order has been imposed in order to prevent and contain the rampant killing of fishes and to prevent a danger to aquatic life and organism, and to secure balance food chain and human consumption and sustainable growth in the aquatic life etc. The order has been issued in view of the complain received from the Acting Sordar Sumer Elaka regarding illegal and rampant killing of fishes and aquatic life forms by use of explosives and poisons at river Kupli. Meanwhile, in another order, the District Magistrate East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any person or group of persons obstructing any movement of trucks and commercial vehicles, illegal demanding of money, illegal collection of money, donation etc from commercial vehicles, truck drivers, commuters by any NGO’S, pressure group etc, checking of documents of commercial vehicles by NGO’s, pressure groups, interested groups and other civil society organization, assembly persons or group of persons with the objective to obstruct free flow of commercial vehicles especially during night time for anti social activities and carrying of arms and other lethal weapons except by the security forces along the National Highway 6. The order is necessitated based on the written complaint, grievances from the members of the public passing through the National Highway especially via Kongong, Wapung Shnong, Wapung skur, Mookhep, Lad Rymbai, Khliehriat area, Lumshnong etc. and by the Police reports that there are miscreants who claimed themselves to be NGO’s VDP who are demanding and looting money from the vehicles, truck drivers and commuters passing through the national Highway 6 during night time. These orders come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.

BSNL GAINS MARKET SHARE ON THE BACK OF NETWORK EXPANSION

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has installed 54000 towers during 2018-2019, which is higher than the combined figures of previous 3 years. BSNL has also started installing 4G towers during the financial year 2018-2019 and has installed approx. 5340 4G towers till April, 2019. Subscribers have welcomed the network expansion and attractive plans offered by joining BSNL and leaving other operators in large numbers. During the year 2018-2019 more than 50 lacs subscribers have ported their number to BSNL from other operators, utilizing the MNP facility. BSNL is one of the two operators showing net addition of more than 9 lacs subscribers during February 2019, as per latest TRAI report. Recently, BSNL has also offered Eros Now premium subscription free of cost with unlimited movies and exclusive video series to its customers of select STV/plans of Rs. 78, Rs. 98 and Rs. 298. Shri B.
