PUBLICATION OF DRAFT ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Sub Divisional Officer (Election) and Electoral Registration Officer, 29-Sohra (ST) and 30-Shella (ST) Assembly Constituencies has informed that persons whose names have not been included in the Electoral Roll or if there are any claims and objections, they should fill up the Forms issued by the office of the SDO (Election), Sohra.

Schedule of dates for the Draft publication of Electoral Rolls 2005 is on January 14, 2005. Data entry of new electors and carrying out of corrections and filing of claims and objections will be between January 15, 2005 and February 12, 2005 and disposal of claims and objections will be between February 13, 2005 to March 14, 2005.

For public inspection, the Electoral Rolls prepared shall be published in draft and display in the Offices of the SDO (Election), Sohra, BDO, Sohra, BDO Laitkroh, Polling Stations and all the Post Offices falling under the Sohra Civil Sub Division. Forms duly filled should be sent through Sirdar/Headmen/BDO/Post Office or any designated persons in Polling Stations.

UNAUTHORISED COLLECTION OF DONATIONS PROHIBITED

In view of the fact that some individuals and organisations are collecting donations from shops and other business establishments in the district on the pretext of Tsunami Relief Fund, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed that unauthorized collection of donations is strictly prohibited. Anyone found resorting to such acts will be punished according to law.

The general public is requested to report such activities immediately to the nearest Police Station for necessary action as collection of donations from shops, business establishments has not been allowed.

PUBLICATION OF DRAFT ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Electoral Registration Officer 12-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency, has informed that the draft Electoral Roll for 12-Mairang (ST) Assembly Constituency are available for inspection at the Office of Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer. Copies of the draft Electoral Roll are also displayed at all prominent locations including Post Office.

The draft Electoral Roll also includes those eligible persons which have been left out. If any ineligible name is detected, objection against such inclusion may be filed in prescribed forms and sent directly to the office of the Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or designated officers in every polling stations within 12-02-2005.

All political parties, public leaders, local leaders, Syiem, Headman, local dorbars/ organisation are requested to extend their full cooperation in this regard. Any omission or lapses relating to the registration of electors may be brought to the notice of the Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of 12-Mairang (STY) Assembly Constituency.

Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), incharge Resubelpara, has informed that a draft copy on the summary revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2005 as the qualifying date of the three Assembly Constituencies of East Garo Hills District would be made available for inspection at the Polling Stations, Office of the Sub Divisional Officer, Resubelpara Civil Sub Division and the office of the Block Development Officer, Resubelpara during office hours from January 15, 2005 to February 12, 2005. Any complain should be lodged on or before February 12, 2005 in prescribed forms as may be appropriate and every such claims be submitted at the polling stations to designated officers.

MCAB CONTRIBUTION TO PMRF

The Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd (MCAB), today presented a cheque of Rs. 1,35,113/- to the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. D.D. Lapang, in his office chamber, the amount which would go the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the Tsunami victims. The cheque was presented by the Chairman MCAB, Mr. G. Mylliemngap.

Others present on the occasion were the Commissioner and Secretary, Cooperation, Mr. Shreeranjan, Managing Director, MCAB, Mr. J.B. Dutta and the Deputy MDs, Mr. D.F. War and Mr. S.K. Roy.

PUBLICATION OF DRAFT ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Electoral Registration Officers of the Assembly Constituencies of 13-Nongspung (ST), 14-Sohiong (ST), 15-Mylliem (ST), 16-Malki-Nongthymmai (ST), 17-Laitumkhrah (ST), 18-Pynthorumkhrah (GEN), 19-Jaiaw (ST), 20-Mawkhar (ST), 22-Laban (GEN), 23-Mawlai (ST), 27-Lyngkyrdem (ST), 24-Sohryngkham (ST), 25-Dienglieng (ST), 26-Nongkrem (ST), 28-Nongshken (ST) and 31-Mawsynram (ST) has informed that the Electoral Rolls has been published and are available for inspection at the offices of all the Electoral Registration Officers of the said constituencies, at the concerned Polling Stations and the concerned Post Offices during office hours.

The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral rolls is January 1, 2005. If, with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection at the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged on or before February 12, 2005 in Form 6, 7, 8, 8A as may be appropriate.

Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the office of the Electoral Registration Officers at the concerned Polling stations and concerned Post Offices or sent by post to the Electoral Registration Officers of the said Constituencies.

JANUARY 26 DECLARED DRY DAY

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has declared January 26, 2005, as Dry Day throughout the entire District of East Khasi Hills on account of Republic Day.

All liquor shops/IMFL shops/bars/hotels/clubs/CS shops/CS bars/outstill shops shall remain close on this day.

DIGVIJAY SINGH CALLS ON LAPANG

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and member, All India Congress Committee (AICC), Mr. Digvijay Singh, who is currently on a visit to Shillong today made a courtesy call on Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr D.D. Lapang, at his official residence here.

During his call, Mr Singh discussed at length with the Chief Minister the developmental activities taking place in Meghalaya and also the political scenario in the State.

Mr Lapang, as the Chairman of the North East Congress Coordination Committee, took the opportunity to apprise Mr Singh of the steps taken and also the future programmes chalked out by the Committee for the overall development of the northeast region.
