CHIEF MINISTER GREETS PEOPLE ON NEW YEAR

The Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. D D Lapang has greeted the people of the State on the New Year.

Dr. Lapang thanked the people of the State, NGOs, Police Department and District Administration of all the seven Districts for their cooperation in keeping the State peaceful during festive seasons like Christmas and New Year.

Dr. Lapang was optimistic that the prevailing peaceful environment would pave the way for outside investment pour into the State, leading to the economic development.

He also urged upon the youths to use their might, powers and brain in the right direction so that so that they could be role models to the entire country.

HOME MINISTER GREETS THE STATE ON NEW YEAR

The Meghalaya Minister for Home (Police), IPR, etc., Mr. H D R Lyngdoh has greeted the people of the entire State on New Year.

Mr. Lyngdoh hoped that peace will set in and would continue to reign in the State. He thanked the entire State for their cooperation in maintaining law and order especially during Puja, Deewali, Christmas and New Year.

He also urged upon all the militants who are still underground to come forward and join the mainstream to help usher in peace and work together towards the State development.

Expressing his deepest sympathy for the Tsunami victims of South India, Mr. Lyngdoh conveyed condolences to the family members of the State Tsunami victims and called upon everybody to donate generously towards the relief fund meant for Tsunami affected people.

LIST OF DONERS FOR RELIEF CAMP RELEASED

The Office of Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that in the Relief Camp organized by the District Administration at Arya Vidyalaya, Lukier Road, Jhalupara in 2004, in aid of the fire victims of Jhalupara, Shillong, a number of individuals /NGO’s/Association/Societies etc have extended help by donating cash/articles/foodgrains etc.
