NOTICE OF PUBLICATION OF DRAFT ELECTORAL ROLL

Shillong, October 8, 2012: The Electoral Registration Officer of 5-Sutnga Saipung (ST) and 6-Khliehriat (ST) has informed that the photo electoral rolls of the said constituencies has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and a copy thereof is available for inspection at the office and at all the concerned Polling Stations during office hours.

The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll is 1st January, 2013. If with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection to the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged on or before the 31st October, 2012 in Form 6, 6A, 7, 8, or 8A as may be appropriate.

Every such claim or objection should be presented to the said office or to the Booth Level Officers at the Designated Polling Stations or sent by post to the office address so as to reach not later than the aforesaid date.

PUBLIC CONVEYANCE FOR 9TH OCTOBER, 2012

Shillong, October 8, 2012: The District Administration has arranged transportation for the Government servants to attend offices tomorrow the 9th October, 2012 in connection with the bandh called by the Hynniew-Trep Achik National Movement (HANM) from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The buses will ply from 9.30 onwards from Laban via Last Stop Laban - Bishnupur, Kench’s Trace, Civil Hospital to I.G.P, from Rynjah via Madanrting, Nongthymmai, Laitumkhrah, Don Bosco Point, Dhankheti Point, Malki Point to IGP, from Nongmensong, Pynthorbah – Lumshyiap – Golf Links – Polo to IGP, from Jaiaw via Mawkhar – Motphran Point – Police Bazar Point – Kachari Point to IGP, from Mawlai Petrol Pump via Mawlai Nonglum Point – Mawlai Mawdatbaki, (Bus Stand) – Polo to IGP, from Mawprem Point via District Council Point , Jhalupara Point- Rilbong Point – Anjalee Petrol Point – Civil Hospital to IGP, and from 7th Mile Upper Shillong via 5th Mile Point -via 3rd Mile – Lummawbah point – Rilbong Point – Civil Hospital Point to IGP.

PARENTS DAY CELEBRATIONS OF HOLY CHILD HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL HELD

Shillong, October 8, 2012: Holy Child Higher Secondary School today celebrated the Parent’s Day at the school premises, Demthring, Shillong. Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Dr. D. D. Lapang graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the presence of Sr. Mildred, Sr. Arpita, Principal and Sr. Denisha, Assistant Principal, Holy Child Higher Secondary School and parents.

It may be mentioned that the Holy Child Higher Secondary School is run by the sisters of charity of Saint Bartholomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa who commit themselves to the service of the youth, the sick and the needy. The school was opened in the year 1973. Realizing the urgent need of the parents and the locality, the school was gradually upgraded to High School in 1989 and in 2004 it was further upgraded to Higher Secondary School with Arts and Science Streams.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang expressed his happiness to see that a good team of dedicated sisters and teachers providing quality education to the poor and needy and instill in the students social consciousness and moral values, which is in line with the vision of the Sister of Charity.

As the motto of the school states “Always More and Always Better”, Dr. Lapang urged upon the students to be presentable, trustworthy and to cultivate humility in their day to day life and to strive hard in their studies so that they can excel, as the order of the day is the survival of the fittest, he added. He also called upon the teachers to dedicate their time and energy in imparting quality education to the students. Furthermore, he urged upon the parents to cooperate with the teachers for the overall development of their children.

The highlights of the day were songs, dances, fashion show and short plays performed by the students of the school.
