BUS ARRANGEMENT FOR GOVERNMENT SERVANTS

Shillong, October 11, 2012: The District Administration of East Khasi Hills has arranged transportation for Government servants to attend offices on October 12, 2012 in connection with the Bharat Bandh called by the Bharitya Janata Party and others from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Buses will ply from Laban via Last Stop Laban-Bishnupur-Kench’s Trace-Civil Hospital to IGP, Rynjah-Madanrting-Nongthymmai-Laitumkhrah-Don Bosco Point-Dhankheti Point-Malki Point-IGP, Nongmensong-Pynthorbah-Lumshyiap-Golflinks-Polo-IGP, Jaiaw-Mawkhar-Motphran Point-Police Bazar Point-Kachari Point-IGP, Mawlai Petrol Pump-Mawlai Nonglum Point-Mawlai Mawdatbaki (Stand Bus)-Polo-IGP, Mawprem Point-District Council Point-Jhalupara Point-Rilbong Point-Anjalee Petrol Pump-Civil Hospital-IGP, 7th Mile Upper Shillong-5th Mile Point-3rd Mile-Lummawbah Point-Rilbong Point-Civil Hospital Point-IGP.

The buses will ply from 10:00 AM.

20TH NATIONAL CHILDREN SCIENCE CONGRESS

Shillong, October 11, 2012: The State level Congress of the 20th National Children Science’s Congress, 2012 will be held at Shillong on November 1, 2012 and the District level Congresses will be held in the respective District Headquarters before October 31, 2012. This was informed by the Member-Secretary, State Council of Science, Technology & Environment, Meghalaya.

Participating children should immediately submit the details of their projects to the District Planning Officer, office of the Deputy Commissioner of their respective Districts latest by October 20, 2012.

NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DAY TO BE OBSERVED

Shillong, October 11, 2012: The office of the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, the Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council and Licensed Blood Banks, East Khasi Hills District in collaboration with Shillong Club Ltd., will organize the State level observation of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 12, 2012 at the Shillong Club premises from 3:00 PM onwards. The Deputy Chief Minister incharge Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Rowell Lyngdoh will grace the function as the Chief Guest.

The theme for this year’s observation is “Somewhere someone needs you, your Blood Donation is precious.”

PERSONAL INTERVIEW FOR THE POST OF SOIL CONSERVATION DEMONSTRATOR

Shillong, October 11, 2012: The Secretary, District Selection Committee, East Khasi Hills has informed that the personal interview for the post of Soil Conservation Demonstrator Jr-I will be held on October 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, Room No. 201.

The Roll Number of the candidates qualified for the personal interview are 3, 13, 20, 60, 61, 68, 76, 88, 90, 126, 155, 179, 234, 235, 236, 240, 244, 247, 264, 265, 266, 286, 287, 291, 339, 345 and 396.

NEW LPG PRICE

Shillong, October 11, 2012: Following revision in the retail price of Domestic Subsidized refilled LPG Cylinder of 14.2 kg in weight, revised by the IOC, the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) West Jaintia Hills District has informed the consumers of the District that the new price of LPG is Rs. 435.00 per cylinder with effect from 7th October, 2012.

Ummulong, Ialong, Eight Mile and all extension points within 15 Kms will also pay the amount of Rs. 435.00 only.

PERMISSION FOR SURAHA MICRO FINANCE TO OPERATE IN THE DISTRICT.

Shillong, October 11, 2012: On proper scrutiny of the documents, the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that permission for 1year has been granted to Suraha Micro Finance to operate and conduct business operation within West Jaintia Hills District by strictly complying with the terms and conditions made in the policy issued to the prospective buyers / consumers and to make liabilities and dues in a regular and proper manner as regulated under the terms and conditions of such policies.

MEGHALAYA TO PARTNER WITH CZECH REPUBLIC

Shillong 11th October 2012: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr. Mukul Sangma along with a host of government officials today met a delegation visiting the State from the Czech Republic which was led by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Czech Republic, Mr Radek Braum at Shillong.

During this meeting, a number of presentations were presented pertaining to possible partnerships between the Czech Republic and the Government of Meghalaya.

Dr. Sangma informed that out of these presentations, a few have been short – listed to start with namely in the field of Agriculture and Horticulture where there will be a partnership between the Meghalaya Government and technology and service providers from the Czech Republic to make available technology and knowledge to the farmers and other possible partners in Meghalaya.

Dr. Sangma added that the focus in this area of partnership will be on warehousing, food processing and cold storage facilities. Another area of partnership which has been short–listed is in the energy sector where there are solutions through green energy which is very relevant in Meghalaya because of the abundance of bio–mass. “This raises the possibility of providing energy on a stand–alone basis or in other words the off–grid system of clean energy,” Dr. Sangma said.

Dr. Sangma also said that a partnership has been entered into for capacity building of various stakeholders including government officers.

The Deputy Minister, Government of Czech Republic added that a more intensive collaboration with Meghalaya in food processing and agricultural machinery has been started. The main aim of which is to bring in Czech technology, investment and knowhow to establish a strategic market.

The delegation from the Czech Republic will also meet the business community from the State to explore the possibility of collaborations in various business activities.

LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE FOR OFFICE BUILDING OF DSO AND DHO AT NONGPOH.

Shillong, 11th October, 2012: Chief Adviser to the government of Meghalaya, Dr DD Lapang, today laid a foundation stone for construction of office building of the District Sericulture Officer and District Handloom Officer and also inaugurated the Mass Weavers Registration & Mega Health Camp held at the campus of Sericulture Office, Nongpoh, in the presence of Mr. P. Tynsong, Minister, Sericulture & Weaving Department, Dr C. Lyngdoh, local MDC, Mr. S.K Barchung, Deputy Director(Weaving), Mr Akash Deep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. B. Ch. Hajong, Jt. Director Sericulture & Weaving, Mr. A. Chaudhury, Area Manager, ICICI Lombard and others.

The programme was also attended by about four thousand weavers from various areas of Ri Bhoi District who also enrolled themselves in Mega Health Camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lapang appraise the weavers as well as the department of Sericulture and Handloom for their contribution and innovation they made in preserving the traditional clothes. He lauded the initiative taken by the department of Sericulture and Weaving to uplift the socio-economic development of the indigenous groups of Ri Bhoi through marketing of indigenous products by weavers of the district. Observing the products marketing within and outside of the state, he said that weavers of Ri Bhoi are talented and good in numbers and hoped that with the implementation of schemes and projects by the government would cater to the needs of weavers particularly the unemployed youth.

Hence, he urged the people particularly the unemployed youth that they should not depend exclusively only on white color job but instead they must look for other opportunities provided by the government for creating possibilities of self employment for better livelihood.

The highlights of the day included songs and cultural dances performed by the students and Raid Nonglyngdoh. The meeting was presided over by Mr Akash Deep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, while the vote of thanks was offered by Ms. M. Leewait, District Handloom Officer, Ri Bhoi District.
