TWO DAY GST TRAINING FOR STATE TAX OFFICERS

The National Academy for Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Zonal Campus, Shillong held a two day training on the 14th and 15th October, 2019 on GST for the State Tax Officers, Government of Meghalaya. The training was held in collaboration with the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya at the KJP Synod Conference Centre, Shilllong. The training was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K Sangma in the presence of Shri C Songate, IRS, Additional Director General NACIN, Smti. S A Synrem, IDAS, Commissioner & Secretary ERTS Department, Meghalaya and Shri Arunkumar Kembhavi, Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya. The faculty consisted of Senior Taxation Officers as resource persons from the State and outside. Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister informed that the revenue collected under GST in the State still has room for improvement and that the amount of Rs. 878 crores collected in 2018-19 is still short of the potential that the State has and he has set a target of Rs. 1500 crores GST revenue collection for the year 2019-20 and he also said that the target is achievable provided the officers push themselves towards it.

QUARTER FINAL ROUND OF MEGHALAYAS GOT TALENT SEASON 4

The biggest reality TV Talent Show of the State, the Meghalaya’s Got Talent which is now underway with its Season 4 is now getting ready for the Quarter Final Round. The Meghalaya’s Talent Search Organisation (MTSO), which is the host of this main event have informed that the quarter final round will be held on 19th October, 2019 at the Community Hall, Jaiaw Shyiap, Lumpyllong from 10:30 AM onwards where selected participants will perform. It may be mentioned that the Mega Audition of this platform was held on the 21st September, 2019 where 162 selected participants from across the state showcased their skills and talents which included dancing, singing, magic, BMX stunt, beatbox, playing traditional flute and leaf and many more. The MTSO further informed that the contestants are to report at 8:30 AM sharp at the venue. Audience ticket @ Rs. 50/- per seat for friends and families interested to watch the show will also be available at the venue itself.
