BIKE RALLY AND CLEANING DRIVE ORGANIZED BY MEGHALAYA STATE LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY ON 02.10.2021

The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority organized a Bike Rally and Cleaning Drive on the occasion of “Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on the 2nd October, 2021.

The Pan India Awareness Programme commenced with the Flagging off of the Bike Rally by Shri. Biswanath Somadder, The Honorable Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron in Chief, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in the august presence of the Honorable Mr. Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge High Court of Meghalaya, Registrar (Judicial Service) High Court of Meghalaya, District and Sessions Judge East Khasi Hills District, Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills District, Judicial Officers of District Court East Khasi Hills District Shillong, Officers of the Registry, High Court of Meghalaya, Members of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Police Personnel, other dignitaries, Students of Shillong Law College and Meghalaya Xpulse Riders.

During the event, Shri. Biswanath Somadder, the Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron in Chief, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority spoke on the importance of making justice accessible to all. During this campaign, the need to emphasize on making justice accessible to the marginalized and those residing in remote areas was stressed upon. The Officer on Special Duty, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, Shri. T.T.M Sangma spoke on the significance of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and the events planned for 2nd October till 14th November, 2021 by the Legal Services Institutions of the State and all Districts of the State of Meghalaya. The event started at 7.00 AM with the Bike Rally from the premises of the Hon’ble High Court of Meghalaya covering major areas of Shillong City and followed by a Cleaning Drive organized by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the High Court of Meghalaya,District Legal Services Authority, Shillong, District Administration, East Khasi Hills District, Public Works Department, Shillong, Police Department (Traffic and Fire Service), Shillong along with Team Jiva, Lions Club and the residents of the Police Bazar, Keating Road, Jail Road, Bivar Road, Secretariat Hill and Oakland Road.
