5TH COMPUTER LITERACY EXCELLENCE AWARDS FOR SCHOOLS-2007

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India has announced the 5th Computer Literacy Excellence Award for Schools-2007, a scheme for schools engaged in promoting Computer Literacy and IT awareness in the State. Interested schools participated in this scheme can submit the particulars in the prescribed proforma which can be downloaded from DIT website at http://www.mit.in.

The last date for submission of application by schools to the office of the Director of Higher and Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong is 30.10.2007.

MOBILE COURT FOR REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCES OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES TO BE CONDUCTED

The Chief Commissioner and Deputy Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, will conduct a Mobile Court for redressal of grievances of Persons with Disabilities at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on October 31, 2007. This was informed by the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Meghalaya.

Grievances of Persons with Disabilities to be heard in the Mobile Court included issue of Disability Certificate, free education in appropriate environment to children upto the age of 18 years, reservation in admission in educational institutions, reservation in employment, reservation in poverty alleviation schemes, rights and facilities under persons with disabilities Act, executive orders, other government instructions etc., and any kind of discrimination on the ground of disability. These grievances will be redressed and orders will be passed on the spot at the venue. A Medical Board at the venue of the Mobile Court will also be arranged at the venue so as to facilitate assessment and issue of Disability Certificates.

Formats of complaint and other details may be acquired from the office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Meghalaya on any working day and the same shall also be made available on the day of the Mobile Court itself.
