UNCLAIMED DEAD BODY

The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong has informed that a male patient named Badapa, aged 55 years, C/o Jowai, West Jaintia Hills District was admitted in the Male Surgical Ward, Bed No. 17, Civil Hospital, Shillong on 05-10-2020 at 10:02 PM. The patient expired on 25-10-2020 at 03:20 PM. All concerned relatives, etc. are hereby requested to collect the dead body from the Hospital Morgue immediately, failing which the dead body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL DISASTER REDUCTION DAY

With an aim to create awareness in Disaster Management to the public and together with the rest of the country, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong observed the National Disaster Reduction Day on 29th October, 2020. The objective of observing this day is to encourage every citizen to take part in building more disaster-resilient communities and to encourage a culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. The National Day for Disaster Reduction celebrates how people and communities around the nation are reducing their exposure to disasters and raises awareness about the importance of coordinated efforts by all concerned not just during disaster time but throughout the year to educate, equip and train various stakeholders in disaster preparation and mitigation. The day was celebrated by initiating numerous programmes for the general public. Awareness Programme on Disaster Management and COVID-19 precautionary measures were held for the general public and taxi drivers at market areas under Shillong city. Masks were distributed at old age homes and to market vendors. Awareness on various disaster preparedness will be aired through FM radio throughout the month. Literature and videos on the Do's and Dont's on Landslide have been prepared for circulating and sharing with the public.
