DRAFT PHOTO ELECTORAL ROLL PUBLISHED

The Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Garo Hills District, Tura has informed that the draft photo electoral rolls for the Assembly Constituencies under West Garo Hills District has been prepared with reference to 01-01-2017 as qualifying date for the Electors of the 46-Phulbari, 47-Rajabala, 48 Selsella (ST), 50-North Tura (ST), 51-South Tura (ST), 52-Rangsakona (ST), 56-Gambegre (ST) and 57-Dalu (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituencies. The photo electoral roll has been prepared in accordance with the Registration of Electoral Rules, 1960, and a copy thereof is available for inspection at election office and at each polling station during office hours. If, with reference to the above qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the photo electoral roll or any objections to the inclusion of names or any objections to participate in any entries, it should be lodged between the period of 30-09-2016 to 31-10-2016 in the form 6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A as may be appropriate. Every such claim or objection should either be presented in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election) not later than the aforesaid date or to the Booth Level Officer in the respective polling station or sent by post to the address so as to reach the office not later than the aforesaid date.

LAITMYNSAW DECLARED ODF VILLAGE

Mr. R. V. Lyngdoh, Urban Affairs Minister and Local MLA today declared Laitmynsaw as Open Defecation Free (ODF) village during the celebration of Gram Panchayat Day 2016 covering Laitmynsaw, Nongpiur and Myrkhan villages at Laitmynsaw village, Upper Shillong. The programme was organized by the Office of the Block Development Officer, Mylliem C&RD Block under the scheme of Chief Minister Youth for Green Campaign Movement which was also attended by Mr. P. T. Passah, BDO, Mylliem, C&RD Block, Mr. A. Langstieh, Rangbah Shnong Laitmynsaw village, village elders from Laitmynsaw, Nongpiur and Myrkhan villages, teachers and students. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lyngdoh congratulated the residents of Laitmynsaw village for receiving the status of ODF village which recognize the tremendous efforts and cooperation of Laitmynsaw and C&RD Block, Mylliem who worked tirelessly to achieve this target. He also urged the people of the locality to restrain from using plastic bag and encourage them to go back to the habit of carrying shopping bag made from cloth or jute. The Chief Guest also administered the Swachhta Pledge to the newly formed Eco-Club from schools under Mylliem C&RD Block.
