DACYP MEETING HELD

The District Advisory Committee on Youth Programme (DACYP) meeting of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Shillong (NYKS) was held today at the Conference Room, DC’s Office, Shillong under the Chairmanship of Kum. Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District. It may be mentioned that NYKS is instrumental in conducting various programmes and activities for the development and empowerment of youth as well as enable them to participate in nation building activities with the spirit of volunteerism. The action plan of NYKS has been designed in such a manner that the empowered youth have appropriate opportunities for awareness, education, capacity building, leadership, personality and skill development to live a meaningful life. In order to achieve these activities of NYKS, action plan for 2020-21 has been discussed in brief with suggestions from different skill development departments and agencies to implement in such a way that the youth will benefit from these activities. Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that these activities should not be just a one-day programme, but its goal should be to mentor, empower and boost employability of the youth of our State.

NIGHT CURFEW

In view of the ensuing Kali Puja (Night Puja) to be observed in East Khasi Hills District on 14th November, 2020, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 11th November, 2020 under Section 144 CrPC has lifted the Night Curfew in the District for the night of 14th November, 2020. Night Curfew will again be promulgated with effect from 15th November, 2020 upto 22nd November, 2020, only for timings falling between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM each day, stated the Order. The order will not apply to medical teams and officials on COVID-19 duty, police, security and armed forces, civil defence and home guard volunteers, wholesale and retail pharmacies, fire and emergency service, MeECL, NEEPCO and Power Grid, FCI vehicles, officers and staff of corona care centres, press, print and electronic, Information and Public Relations Department, National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, Shillong Municipal Board and telecom service. These services shall strictly comply with all the protocols and procedures including social distancing, limiting of field staff to the barest minimum and other advisories of Government in the Health and Family Welfare Department, without fail.

Movement of vehicles carrying essential goods, security forces, medical equipments and shops for repair of trucks on highways are also exempted. However, drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subject to medical screening as per laid down protocols. However, exemption granted to official and non-official emergency and essential services, establishments and agencies shall not extend to containment areas. Curfew passes for timings falling between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM with effect from 15th November, 2020 upto 22nd November, 2020 can be obtained via online application at eastkhasihills.gov.in.
