BADTHE KADAM FLAGGED OFF AT WAHIAJER

Shillong, November 6, 2012: Joining hands with the rest of the Country the Badthe Kadam –IV and the third in the State was launched at Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills District on 3rd November 2012.

Badthe Kadam was flag off by the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, Mr. P S Dkhar from Wahiajer Main Road to the Venue at Nephington Laloo Memorial Secondary School, Wahiajer.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Mr. P.S Dkhar called upon each one to treat the differently abled with equality be it in the Community, Society or at School. He pointed out every citizen holds a responsibility in creating the awareness about the rights of the persons with disability also supporting and helping them in our own small ways. He asked the parents to avail the benefits of the Scheme given by the Government for the disabled which will help them in future.

The Sate Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC), Shillong, Belborra Wankhar in her key note address highlighted the goals and objectives of Badthe Kadam and invites each one to join hands with the BK team in spreading the message of hope, dignity, human rights and empowerment by being part of it in creating awareness and sensitizing the public about the rights of persons with disability as enshrined in our Constitution and as elaborated in the UN Convention Rights of Person with disabilities (UNCRPD), which starts from November 3rd to December 2nd, 2012.

She informed that the main objective of BK-IV is to address and sensitize the four pillars of democracy i.e the unconverted about the rights of the disabled. Dr. D. Lakiang, Nodal Officer District Resource Centre, Civil Hospital, Jowai in his speech informed the parents having children with disability to visit the DRC, Civil Hospital, Jowai for attaining certificates check -up and other equipment.

The Office of the District Industries, Jowai too invites and encourage applicants with disability to enroll them for trainings available in the office. One of the partially impaired person from Saipung Block, F. Pala working in MRDS Saipung shared his success, he said though disable yet the MRDS organization has help him and now he stands in his own feet.

To marks this day Badthe Kadam theme song and action song were performed by the team and closing of the function with the National Anthem. The programmed was organized by Meghalaya Parents Association for Disabled (MEPAD) in partner with the National Trust where in the programmed was presided over by A M Lyngdoh BDO, Thadlaskein and the vote of thanks was proposed by the Headman of Wahiajer, K. Shylla.

GRATUITOUS RELIEF RELEASED

Shillong, November 6, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that an amount of Rs. 6200/-Rupees Six thousand two hundred) only has been released to the families affected by fire incident during the year 2011-2012 in different villages under Thadlaskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District.

OPEN MARKET SALES SCHEME RICE RELEASE

Jowai, November 6, 2012 : The Deputy Commissioner ( Supply) , West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that the Open Market Sales Scheme quota of rice for the month of October, 2011 to March, 2012 and April 2012 to September, 2012 are being distributed and available in all Fair Price Shops.

Scale of issue is 10.600 Kg per family for both Rural and Urban Areas, and rate at Jowai and Ummulong areas is Rs. 16.75 per kg and at Nartiang and Shangpung Rs. 17.00 per Kg. For other rural areas the transport charge will be included.
