FOUNDATION DAY AND RAJYA PURASKAR OF THE BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES OBSERVED

Shillong, 7th November, 2012: The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, Shillong celebrated its Foundation Day and Rajya Puraskar Rally today at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong in which Shri. R. S. Mooshahary, Governor of Meghalaya graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries of the function included Shri. W. M. S. Pariat, Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Shri. F. R. Kharkongor, Secretary Education, Government of Meghalaya, Shri. M. S. Rao, Principal Secretary to the Governor, the officials and staffs from the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Shillong. Besides eminent personalities and government officials and number of school children also participated in the event.

Speaking in the occasion, Shri. R. S. Mooshahary, Governor to the Government of Meghalaya expressed his gratitude to the efforts of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in educating the citizens of the State in various field such as civic sense, hygiene and many more. He highlighted of the idealism of the Bharat Scouts and Guides such as kindness, discipline, patriotism, industrious, honesty, loyalty and many more and how they can be a witness to other fellow citizens. He further stressed on hard work which is a key to development and fast growth. He also stated that the Bharat Scouts and Guides is an important movement in reaching out people in distress. He further lauded the various plays demonstrated by the school children on relevant social issues. And lastly he congratulated the recipients of the Rajya Puraskar Award.

Besides distribution of the Rajya Puraskar Award, other highlights of the programme included the official inauguration of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag Day, social flashes on various themes by the school children, songs and many more.

PRICE OF LPG CYLINDER FIXED

Shillong, November 7, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed the LPG consumers of Greater Shillong that the price of LPG cylinder has been fixed as per categories mentioned below.

For 14.2 kgs domestic subsidized cylinder, consumers will be supplied 6 cylinders for domestic use (household) during one financial year starting from 1st April every year. Since revision has been made effective from 14.9.2012, in the current year, the limit for balance part of the year i.e., 14.9.2012 to 31.3.2013 will be 3 subsidized cylinders of 14.2 kgs. The rate for the domestic subsidized cylinder is fixed at Rs. 435/- per cylinder inclusive of Rs. 17/- being the carrying charges w.e.f. 07.10.2012. However, in absence of home delivery by the agencies, Rs. 17/- is to be deducted from the above rate.

For non-subsidized domestic household cylinder, customers who require cylinders over and above the capped quantity will be supplied cylinders at non-subsidized rates. The retail selling price of such cylinders is likely to change every month subject to change in international price of LPG. However, the retail selling price of 14.2 kgs non-subsidized domestic household cylinder is fixed at Rs. 959.50 per cylinder w.e.f. 07.10.2012.

For non-domestic exempted consumers like defence establishment, messes/canteens, colleges, schools, police, paramilitary, charitable trust, government canteens, cooperative canteens, etc, 14.2 kgs cylinders will be given at non-subsidized rate including excise and custom duty. No capping entitlement will be applicable for such customers. The retail selling price of such cylinder is likely to change every month subject to change in international price of LPG. The retail selling price of non-domestic exempted consumer is fixed at Rs. 1255.50 per cylinder w.e.f. 07.10.2012.

For non-domestic non-excapled such as commercial and industrial consumers will be supplied at commercial rate the 19 kgs, 35 kgs and 47.5. kgs capacity cylinders. The retail selling price of such cylinder is likely to change every month subject to change in international price of LPG.

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF LITTLE FLOWER SCHOOL

Shillong, November 7, 2012: The Golden Jubilee celebrations of Little Flower Secondary School, Malki Shillong was held on 7th November 2012 at the school premises where the Meghalaya Governor Mr. R S Mooshahary graced the function as Chief Guest.

Mr. R S Mooshahary while deliberating his speech congratulated the organizers for being the best organized programme that he had attended. The programme was seamlessly progressive and the performance of the students was remarkable, he added.

He also stated that perhaps the biggest achievement to be celebrated would be to mould the character of a student to be honest, truthful and innovative person in future. Mr. Mooshahary called upon the students to inculcate civic sense and also to spread the fragrance of humanity, kindness and service.

Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Bindo M Lanong congratulated the achievement of this milestone and shared his experiences with regard to the establishment of the said school being the member of the District Council at that time. He said that students should be shaped with right kind of education which later on will imbibe with wisdom, knowledge and courage to survive in this world.

During the function the Chief Guest also released the “Golden Aroma of Fragrance”, a Souvenir on this auspicious occasion. Mementos were presented to all the dignitaries present and also for those who have supported and cooperated in this noble mission.

Earlier in the programme, the Principal, Little Flower Secondary School, Ancy Abraham, spoke about the remarkable history of the mission which was started way back in 1962 by Bishop Stephan Ferrando. The school has been progressing since then and became deficit on 1st October 1981. During this five decade about 9000 students have passed out from this school.

Others present on the occasion are Smti Ampareen Lyngdoh, Urban Affairs Minister, Rev. Arch-Bishop Dominic Jala, Shillong Arch-Diocese, the Guest of Honour for the function, local MDC, Mr Antonio War, Mr. Frederick Lyngkhoi, Joint Director, MBOSE, Sr. Catherine Joseph, Provincial, Sr. Philomna Mathew, Superior General, Rangbah Shong, Rangbah Dong, parents, staff and students.
