PLYING OF LOADED TRUCKS PROHIBITED

Shillong, November 8, 2011: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting the plying of loaded trucks from Mawmaram via Nongthliew and Mawmih upto Mawlyndep.

This Order has been enforced after the District administration received information that loaded trucks are plying on the PWD road from Mawmaram via Nongthliew, Mawmih upto Mawlyndep (L-33.00 Km) which is under construction by the PWD authorities causing obstruction, damages, etc. The nature of work involves strengthening of the existing single pavement in the form of metalling and black topping and construction of hume pipe culvert and bridges and plying of loaded trucks on the newly laid water bound macadam will weaken the pavement and may result in premature failure of the road pavement.

This order comes into immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.

HOLIDAY DECLARED IN EAST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT

Shillong, November 8, 2011: The Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department has informed that all State Government Offices and all Revenue and Magisterial Courts and educational institutions in East Khasi Hills District shall remain closed on the 9th November, 2011 on account of Nongkrem Dance.

FREE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Shillong, November 8, 2011: The Coaching-cum-Guidance Centre for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Shillong will conduct a 14 days free training programme for SC/ST candidates preparing to appear in the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination, 2011 to be conducted by the Staff Selection Commission on the 4th December, 2011. The training will commence from 14.11.2011 till 2-12.2011 from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Training will be provided on subjects like General Awareness and Intelligence, Numerical Aptitude and English.

Candidates who applied for the above examination and are keen to participate in such training programme can register their names in the office of the Coaching-cum-Guidance Centre for SC/ST, Shillong, opposite St. Margaret School, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.

SK OIL RELEASED

Shillong, November 8, 2011: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed the public consumers of the District that SK Oil for the month of November 2011 has been released and will be distributed through the SK Oil Retailers to all family Identity Card Holders (APL, BPL and AAY card holders) in urban areas and households under rural areas.

The scale of issue in urban areas is fixed at 7 litres per card and in rural areas the scale of issue may be determined by the local durbar or vigilance committee in consultation with respective SK oil retailers. The rate per litre is Rs. 16.00 per litre in Shillong areas, Rs. 16.50 in Mawphlang, Mawngap, Mylliem, Laitlyngkot, Mawryngkneng and Mawkynrew areas, Rs. 16.70 in Pynursla area and Rs. 16.80 in Mawsynram and Balat areas.

Any non-supply of SK oil by the retailers as instructed above should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.
