RICE UNDER TPDS RELEASED

Shillong, December 15, 2011: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, has informed the public consumers that rice under TPDS has been released and will be distributed through the respective Fair Price Shops.

Rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kgs per card @ Rs. 6.15 per kg for BPL (Regular) quota for the month of November, 2011 for both Rural and Urban area, 35 kgs per card @ Rs. 3.00 per kg for AAY (Regular) quota for the month of November, 2011, both rural and urban area. For APL (Regular) quota for the month of November, 2011, rice will be distributed in rural area at the scale of 2.500 kgs per head @ Rs. 8.80-Rs. 9.00 per kg and 2 kg per head @ Rs. 8.80-Rs. 9.00 per kg in urban area. For APL (Adhoc/Additional) quota for the month of November, 2011 (rural & urban), rice will be distributed at the scale of 1.350 kgs per head @ Rs. 8.80-Rs. 9.00 per kg, while for BPL (Regular) for the month of June, 2011 and Special Adhoc BPL quota for BPL and AAY Card Holder (rural & urban), rice will be distributed at the scale of 25.500 kgs per card @ Rs. 6.15 per kg.

Any non-supply or overcharging of rate and supply of inferior quality of rice by the Fair Price Shop Dealers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.

NATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION 2011

Shillong, December 15, 2011: Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous body of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, invites Essay entries for “Dr. Ambedkar Foundation National Essay Competition-2011” from recognized Colleges/Universities/Institution and Secondary & Senior Schools. For the recognized Colleges/Universities/Institution the topic is Constitution of India and Social Justice in Hindi and English (3500 words) and the winner receive a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/-, 2nd prize Rs. 50,000/- and 25,000/- as 3rd prize. For the recognized Secondary & Senior Schools i.e from Class 9th to Class 12th, the topic is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar: A Multifaceted Personality in Hindi and English (2000 words) and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize include a cash award of Rs. 25,000/-, Rs. 15,000/- and 10,000/- respectively.

HEALTH MELA AT SOHIONG CHC

Shillong, December 15, 2011: The Department of Health and Family Welfare, East Khasi Hills District will organize a two days Health Mela under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) at Sohiong CHC on 16th-17th December, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

During the Mela, there will be a free medical & health check up by Government doctors, both Allopathic and AYUSH and specialist doctors of different department from Ganesh Das Hospital, NEIGRIHMS and Civil Hospital, Shillong. There will also be an immunization services, medicine and various lab test to be provided free of cost, awareness cum IEC programme on Health, counseling session for adolescent, baby show competition (4 months to 2 years of age), drawing competition for school students, quiz competition and exhibition.

The mela will be inaugurated by the Meghalaya Minister, Home (Police), etc, Mr. H D R Lyngdoh on 16th December, 2011 at 11:00 AM.

STATEWIDE MASS MOBILIZATION CAMPAIGN OF AQUACULTURE MISSION

Shillong, December 15, 2011: The 6th Statewide Mass Mobilization Campaign of Aquaculture Mission will be held at Mawngap Stadium (Ta-taw) on 17th December, 2011 from 11:00 AM onwards where Mr. R V Lyngdoh, Chairman of MTDC will be the Chief Guest. Three Development Blocks, i.e., Mawphlang, Mawsynram and Ranikor Block will be covered in the programme. The day long programme will also include a workshop on area expansion, hatcheries, conservation/sanctuaries, fish feed mills and post harvest.

The Director of Fisheries cum Chief Executive Officer, Fish Farmer Development Agency invites members of the public especially those who are interested in pursuing fisheries as a livelihood option to attend the campaign.
