ACHIEVEMENT PROFILE OF THE MDA GOVERNMENT RELEASED

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. D. D. Lapang today released a booklet entitled “Milestones - An Achievement Profile of the MDA Government” at the Conference Hall of the Main Secretariat building, Shillong amidst the presence of the Meghalaya Deputy Speaker, Mr. P. W. Muktieh, Dr. Friday Lyngdoh, Co-Chairman, State Planning Board, Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. W. M. S. Pariat and other senior government officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang firstly thanked the people of Meghalaya for maintaining peace and tranquility, thereby enabling the Government to forge ahead with various developmental initiatives. While stressing that though the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) is a coalition government, consisting of six political parties, Dr. Lapang said that it has been able to work together, cutting across party lines, for the overall progress and prosperity of the State. He further thanked the coalition partners and legislators for their cooperation and support. Adding that though the Government has endeavoured to deliver its promise to the people, Dr. Lapang said that there is always room for more achievements.

It may be mentioned that the booklet highlighting the major achievements of the MDA Government during the past four and a half years has been published by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

The office of the Executive Engineer (PHE), Ampati Division, Ampati, has been shifted to the new building at the office of the Executive Engineer (PHE), Ampati Division, Ampati, P.O. Ampati – 794115, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya with effect from December 8, 2007. This was informed by the Executive Engineer (PHE), Ampati Division, Ampati.

RICE AND SUGAR RELEASED

The South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice under BPL and AAY and Sugar for the month of December 2007 have been released and is being distributed through the Fair Price Shops of the District. Further, APL rice is being released to the consumers for the first time in the District.

The DC (Supply) has also informed that 20KL and 12KL of SK Oil for the month of September 2007 and November 2007 respectively could not be lifted and lapsed due to outbreak of law and order in Assam and therefore, the supply of the same in the District is likely to be disrupted in the current month.

DISTRICT LEVEL EXHIBITION AT BAGHMARA

A five days District level Rural Employment Generating Programme exhibition got underway on December 12, 2007 at Jagorani Upper Primary School, Baghmara, South Garo Hills District. The exhibition was organized by Pakan Khadi and Gram Udyog Songka.

Mr. T Hynniewta, General Manager DIC, who spoke at the inaugural function as the Chief Guest highlighted the schemes and works of the Department and explained about the importance of Khadi and Village Industries Board in promoting and generating employment opportunities to the people. Therefore, Mr. Hynniewta encouraged the people to come forward and avail the opportunity available in the KVIB.

SCHOOL BUILDING, BUS SHED AND DRINKING WELL INAUGURATED

Meghalaya Deputy Speaker and local MLA, Mr. P W Muktieh inaugurated the school building of Seibor English School at Umshaken, Ri Bhoi District, on December 12, 2007. The school was constructed under SRWP scheme at a total amount of Rs. 2.00 lakhs.

Stating that these constructions will go a long way in helping the people of the village, he urged upon the people of the village to properly utilize the schemes and projects given to them by the government. He also called upon the public to maintain peace and brotherhood and cooperate with the government so that schemes and projects can be reached out to the village.

Later on the same day, Mr. Muktieh inaugurated the bus shed and drinking well at Umshaken, constructed under SGRY-II and SRWP scheme at a total amount of Rs. 60,000/- and Rs. 40,000/- respectively.
