NOMINATIONS INVITED FOR JEEVAN RAKSHA PADAK AWARDS

Shillong, March 15, 2010: The Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi invites nominations for Jeevan Raksha Padak series of Awards-2009. The award is given for meritorious acts of human nature in saving the life of a person(s) from drowning, accident cases, fire accidents, electrocution, land slides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines etc. The award is given in three categories, that is, the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak for conspicuous courage in saving life under circumstances of every great danger to the life of the rescuer, the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak for courage and promptitude in saving life under circumstances of great danger to the life of the rescuer and the Jeevan Raksha Padak for courage and promptitude in saving life under circumstances of grave bodily injury of the rescuer.

Any of the above incidents falling beyond the period of two years from the date of such incident need not apply.

Interested persons/members of the Armed Forces, Police Force and of recognized Fire Service may send their application(s) in prescribed format which is available in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, Room No. 319 on any working day. The last date for submission of the form is March 31, 2010.
