DRIVE AGAINST ILLICIT LIQUOR

In its continued drive against illicit liquor, the Excise Staff of East Khasi Hills District conducted raids in restaurants/stalls in the town and its outskirts and during the month of December 2008 detected 48 cases with a seizure of 71.625 litres of ID liquor and 2.000 litres IMFL. In this connection, 47 persons were arrested under Excise Act.

RICE UNDER ANNAPURNA SCHEME RELEASED

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed all entitlement Card holders under the Annapurna Scheme that 30 kgs of rice against the month of October, November and December 2008 has been released and will be distributed "free of cost" at the scale of 10 kgs per card per month through their respective fair price shops as indicated.

In urban area, rice will be distributed at M/s P Kharbuli at Mawlai Mawdatbaki for the entire locality of Mawlai, for Mawprem, Jaiaw and Qualapatty at M/s E Passah at Sunny Hill, for Laban, Lawsohtun and Lumparing at M/s Bela Store at Laban, for Rynjah, Pohkseh and Umpling at M/s B Kharsyntiew at Pohkseh, for Pynthor, Nongmynsong and Mawpat at M/s G. Store at Polo and for Malki, Nongthymmai and Madanrting, rice will be distributed at M/s N. C. Sen at Laitumkhrah.

In rural area, rice will be distributed at M/s Sandriana Shangpliang at Mawsynram Pdengshnong for villages under the Mawsynram C & RD Block, for villages under the Mawkynrew C & RD Block at M/s Jien Pyngrope at Mawkynrew, for villages under the Pynursla C & RD Block at M/s Broder Khongwet at Pynursla, for villages under the Mylliem C & RD Block and tagged to the respective Fair Price Shop Center at M/s K Nongkhlaw at Mylliem Nongbet and M/s S Nongbsap at Nongsawiing Pdeng. For villages under the Mawryngkneng C & RD Block, rice will be distributed at M/s Khriang Lamare at Main Road Mawryngkneng, for villages under the Mawphlang C & RD Block at M/s Kolida Marbaniang at Mawngap Mawrasai, for villages under the Laitkroh C & RD Block, rice will be distributed at M/s Paila Kharkongor at Laitkroh and for villages under Mawsynram C & RD Block at M/s M.Dopri at Mawsynram.
