INDISCRIMINATE DISPLAYING OF PRESS TAG

On receiving information that some individuals/organizations are indiscriminately using PRESS TAG in their vehicles, the Meghalaya Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mr. R. G. Lyngdoh, today held a meeting with the members of the Shillong Press Club to discuss the matter. The meeting decided that henceforth, only authorized press persons and vehicles are allowed to use the tag in discharging their duties. Unauthorized using of the tag by any person/organisation with effect from April 01, 2007 will not be allowed.

Press persons interested in getting the Press Tag may approach the office of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations for details on any working day during office hours.

ENROLMENT DRIVE

To ensure that all children of school going age in the district attains minimum level of education, the Deputy Inspector of Schools, East Garo Hills District, Williamnagar, has appealed to all the general public, NGOs, local leaders and village level functionaries, parents and guardians to send their children and wards to school. Stating that the government is providing midday meal to Lower Primary school children and EGS Centres, he also appealed to the school authorities, teachers, etc to make sure that these benefits reach out to school going children.

SECTION 144 CRPC PROMULGATED

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting road blockade causing obstruction to movement of vehicles and smooth flow of traffic and carrying of arms and other lethal weapons in the whole of the District.

This order comes into force with immediate effect and remain in force until further orders.
