Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today graced the IXth Convocation of the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong as the Chief Guest at IIM, Shillong. The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Ganga Prasad was the Guest of Honour at the function. Shri James P. K. Sangma, Home Minister, Shri D. P. Wahlang, Principal Secretary and Shri W. R. Lyngdoh, Secretary Education department, Shri Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman of the Board of Governor, IIM, Shillong, Professor Amitabha De, Director, IIM, Shillong, faculty members, students and parents were also present on the occasion. During the Convocation ceremony, IIM Shillong conferred Diplomas to 172 Postgraduate students and 30 Post Graduate Executive Students. For the first time IIM Shillong conferred its Fellow of IIM Shillong to 1 participant. The Vice President handed the Chairman's Gold Medal for securing highest CGPA to Parth Dadhania, while Deepam Sahu was awarded the Institute Silver medal for the second highest CGPA. Also, Girriraj Goyal won the Math Finance AG Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in quantitative finance courses and Vivek Singh won the Director's Gold Medal for Best All-Rounder and Institute's medal for positive contribution to campus life. Earlier, upon his arrival at ALG, Upper Shillong the Vice President was received by the Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Ganga Prasad and Meghalaya Home Minister, Shri James P. K. Sangma.
