7TH REGIONAL PARENTS MEET

Shillong, February 18, 2011: The Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Social Welfare Department, Mr. Arindam Som inaugurated the 7th Regional Parents Meet on the theme “Together in the Community” on February 18, 2011 at Raitong Building. The 2 day programme is being organized by Parivaar- National Confederation of Parents Association (NCPO) in Partnership with National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Secunderabad and hosted by Meghalaya Parents Association for the Disabled. The purpose of this programme is to empower the parents, shared its problems, to make the society friendly towards the disabled person. The delegates who had come from different States and Districts will discuss on the Role of National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIHM) in changing scenario of the North East, promoting an Inclusive Disability Network and Behavioral Modification. Group discussion and presentation will also be made between the Delegates during the meet.

‘Every Child is a God Gift’ whether the child is physically challenged or not, said Mr. Arindam Som in his inaugural speech. He further added that the society also can play an important role in changing the present scenario and can be a part of it. He also called upon the parents to come forward with more initiatives and more responsibility. Later he urged upon the people to share the responsibility in realizing the dreams and aspirations of the differently able people and to fulfill the rights provided to them.

DISTRICT PLANNING MEET HELD

Shillong, February 18, 2011: The District Planning meeting was held today on February 18, 2011 at Tura Circuit House.

Mr. Sayeedullah Nongrum, MLA who was also present at the meeting stated that this meeting were important to establish facts regarding the status of schemes and projects being implemented in the District, thereby facilitating to chalk out future plans based on the facts established. He also urged upon the District Heads to present the status and future projects of their respective departments in the most discernible manner.

The Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Mr Sanjay Goyal asked concerned District Officers to clearly state the status of their pending projects and schemes. Stressing on the activities of respective departments Mr. Goyal asked the concerned officers to be deliberate and precise in their representation.

ONLINE APPLICATION FOR INDIAN CITIZENSHIP INTRODUCED

Shillong, February 18, 2011: In order to make the procedure for applying Indian citizenship simpler, faster and transparent, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has developed software to facilitate submission of online applications for grant of Indian citizenship. Applicants can make application online for quick processing of the same by the concerned agencies and the Central Government. The said procedure is available on the website of the Ministry at www.mha.nic.in.

BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES GOVERNORS AWARD CEREMONY TO BE HELD

Shillong, February 18, 2011: The Bharat Scouts and Guides Governor’s Award Ceremony called ‘Rajya Puraskar Rally’ will be held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong on February 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Governor of Meghalaya, Mr. R S Mooshahary will be presenting the Rajya Puraskar Certificates to the Scouts & Guides who have earned and achieved during 2010.

The Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr. W M S Pariat who is also the President of the MBSG, Vice President Mr. P S Thangkhiew, Mr. W R Marbaniang and the officials of the MBSG will also be present at the Award Ceremony.

SPEED TEST FOR THE POST OF STENOGRAPHER

Shillong, February 18, 2011: The Speed Test/Interview for the post of Stenographer in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held on 24th and 25th February, 2011 at 1:00 PM. This was informed by the Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

Candidates are to bring their own typewriter alongwith all original certificates at the time of Speed Test and Interview.
