BUSES ARRANGED FOR PUBLIC CONVENIENCE

Shillong, May 18, 2011: The Deputy Commissioner has informed the general public that in view of the strike called by the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association, 54 buses are being made available by the Shillong City Bus Syndicate along with JNNURM and MTC to ferry passengers from extreme locations like Mawiong HP Petrol Pump, NEHU Campus, Elephant Falls junction, NEIGRIHMS, Lad Smit, Lawsohtun and Lumparing to and from Shillong City.

It may also be mentioned that the Shillong Taxi Region Owners and Drivers Association is not participating in the strike, therefore taxis will be plying in the main thoroughfares of the city.

Any attempt to disrupt the temporary arrangement made by the State Government and the District Administration will be dealt with a heavy hand and shall not be tolerated.
