BADHTE KADAM II 2010 TO BE HELD

Shillong, October 21, 2010: The National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities in collaboration with the State Government, traditional institutions, NGOs (including the NGOs for disabled person, their parents, rehab centre’s etc) institutions, other organizations and society as a whole is organizing a country wide awareness and sensitization campaign on disabilities in the month of November 2010 for the 2nd time and named the programme as Badhte Kadam II 2010 in short BKII. This is a Pan India programme.

The campaign would be flagged off on November 16, 2010 in New Delhi, thereafter programs in various parts of the country would be organized by coordinating agencies nominated in each of the States from November 19-27, 2010. In Meghalaya the campaign would be coordinated by Meghalaya Parents Association for Disabled (MEPAD) which is also the State Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC) under the National Trust.

The goal of the Badhte Kadam II 2010 is to create awareness around United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), create awareness of National Trust (NT) focused disabilities and schemes programmes and celebrate diversity.

COMPILATION OF NAMES OF NON RESIDENT INDIANS

Shillong, October 21, 2010: The Government of Meghalaya is compiling the list of all Non-Resident Indians of the State living outside India for facilitating the invitation to be extended to them by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region to the Pravasi Bharitiya Divas (PVS) Convention 2011 to be held in New Delhi from 7th - 9th January 2011. These conventions provide the largest platform to the People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for exchange of views and networking on matters of common interest. All Non- Resident Indians from Meghalaya are requested to provide their information like (1) Name (2) Address (3) Contact Number (4) Expertise /Specialization to the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya., i/c Planning Department and e-mail to barkosw@yahoo.com and clangstieh@yahoo.com. Relatives having family members aboard are also requested to come forward and provide the above required information.
