WHOLE MEAL ATTA RELEASED

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has informed the public consumers of Shillong Sadar Sub-Division that whole meal Atta for the period with effect from April 2003 upto March 2004 is being distributed to them through their respective Fair Price Shops at the following scale and price.

For the period April and May 2003, Atta will be distributed at the scale of 1.094 kg per head, 1.154 kg for the period June and July 2003, 1.040 kg for the period August and September 2003, 1.030 kg for October and November 2003 and 1.022 kg for February and March 2004. The price per kg is Rs. 6.50p.

Any non supply or overcharging of rate by the suppliers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, giving full details.

CERTIFICATE COURSE IN JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION

The Principal, North Eastern Regional Institute of Journalism and Public Relations (NERIJAPR) has informed that a 3-Month Certificate Course in Journalism and Mass Communication will be conducted by NERIJAPR, Candhipur, Manipur, from February 1, 2005 in Imphal, Manipur.

Interested candidates should be Graduate or has appeared the B.A. Final Examination. Prospectus along with application form can be obtained from the Institute on Demand Draft of Rs. 100/- only, drawn in favour of the Principal, NERIJAPR at Canchipur, Manipur.

REVISION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS

The Deputy Commissioner (Election), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has informed that the programme for the ongoing Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls has been rescheduled.

Preparation of Manuscripts, comparison of manuscript with relevant parts of the previous Electoral Roll of 2004, data entry of new electors and carrying out of corrections and printing of draft roll will take place from November 11, 2004 to January 13, 2005. Draft publication of Electoral Rolls will take place on January 14, 2005 and the period for filing of claims and objection and reading of relevant parts/sections of Electoral Rolls in Gram Sabha/Urban Local bodies and Residents Welfare Association meeting will be between January 15, 2005 and February 12, 2005.

Disposal of claims and objection will be on March 14, 2005 while the preparations and printing of supplements of additions, deletions and corrections will be on April 8, 2005.

The Final Publication of Electoral Rolls will be on April 15, 2005.

ISSUING OF SC/ST/OBC CERTIFICATE

The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, has informed that applications for issuing of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes Certificates would be scrutinised by the Committee constituted for the purpose.

Henceforth applications should reach the office of the Deputy Commissioner at least a month prior to requirement, to enable the office to place the applications before the Committee for consideration of the same.

OFFICE CHAMBER OF THE UMLING C & RD BLOCK INAUGURATED

The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. W.L. Lyngdoh, inaugurated the Office Chamber of the Umling C & RD Block at Umling on December 16, 2004.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lyngdoh said that the office chamber will cater and serve the needs of the people of the District. He then urged upon the people to cooperate with the Block Development Officer for speedy implementation of developmental schemes.

Meanwhile, a pre-Christmas celebration was also organised by the Office of the BDO Umling. The highlights of the celebration were distribution of gifts to 4 disabled persons of Umling, distribution of sweets and cards to children and participants of the meet and Christmas message rendered by Rev. T.W. Lyngdoh.

APPLIANCES DISTRIBUTED TO THE DISABLED

The Officers' Club, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, in collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre, Guwahati, has on December 17, 2004, distributed about 67 appliances to the Disabled Persons from the District which includes wheelchairs, tri-cycles, hearing aid, elbow crutches, auxiliary crutches, etc. The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. W.L. Lyngdoh was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

While expressing appreciation to the Composite Regional Centre for cooperating with the Officers' Club and the District Administration in providing appliances to the differently abled people, Mr. Lyngdoh hoped that these appliances will help and benefit the handicapped which in turn will enable them to live and work normally.

ADVANCE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION AT UMROI

The Advance Christmas celebration of the Umroi Constituency, organised by the local MLA, Mr. S.W. Rymbai, was held at Umroi Mini Stadium on December 18, 2004, amidst a large gathering of people coming from all over the constituency. The programme included Choirs and Songs rendered by different groups and distribution of about 1400 blankets to poor families of the constituency.

Speakers on the day included Mr. W.L. Lyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi, Mr. F.M. Mawphniang, MDC, Rev. (Father) C. Malngiang, Parish Priest, Mawbri,. Rev. P. Syngkli, Mr. T. Nongkseh of the Church of Christ, Mr. S. Marbaniang of the Church of God. The celebration was presided over by Mr. S.W. Rymbai, MLA.
