ADVISORY FOR KUMBH MELA, 2021

In line with the Central Government’s SOP issued on 22nd January, 2021 for managing COVID-19 in the context of Kumbh Mela, the Uttarakhand Government has issued an advisory for pilgrims/visitors visiting the Kumbh Mela, 2021 in Haridwar.

The advisory states that persons above 65 years of age and children below the age of 10 years, persons with comorbidities like diabetes, hypertension, cardiac, pulmonary and kidney ailments, immunocompromised individuals, those suffering from cancer, cerebrovascular disorders, pregnant women etc. are advised not to visit the Kumbh Mela.

Pilgrims/visitors should also mandatorily register on Uttarakhand Government portal prior to their visit and shall install and use Aarogya Setu App at all times. All the visitors/pilgrims must produce a health certificate as per the prescribed format which is a mandatory requirement for entering Kumbh Mela area and they must also produce a Negative RT-PCR Test report for COVID-19 (tested within 72 hours) at the time of entry to the Mela area.

WORLD HEALTH DAY 2021 OBSERVED AT KALAICHAR SOUTH WEST GARO HILLS DISTRICT

World Health Day 2021 on the theme, "Building a fairer healthier world for everyone" was observed at Kalaichar PHC, South West Garo Hills District on Wednesday, the 7th of April 2021. Speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills District, Ch. Ramakrishna Chitturi informed that the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting every part of the country albeit there has not been a single case detected in the district so far. "However, this should not be a reason for complacency, as last year it was around June that the cases started to rise in the district", he said. He urged people above 45 years of age to come forward and get themselves vaccinated as it is now available in the District hospitals. Stressing on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a proper diet, he advised the people to eat healthy and make a habit to physically exercise daily.

Laying emphasis on Rescue Mission, the District Medical and Health Officer (DM &HO), Ampati, Dr. L.S. Ch. Marak highlighted the importance of timely health care for pregnant women. She informed the crowd attending the occasion on the importance of maintaining hygiene and sanitation at every household and keeping their surroundings clean in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

As a gesture to promote hygiene and sanitation at public places, the District Health Society, Ampati presented a water tank to Kalaichar Bazar Committee following which a team headed by DM & HO, Ampati carried out a cleanliness drive at Kalaichar market to create awareness about garbage disposal.
