CHIEF MINISTER VISITS BAGHMARA TO TAKE STOCK OF THE COVID-19 SITUATION

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri Conrad K Sangma visited South Garo Hills District today and took stock of the COVID-19 situation and measures taken to control its spread. He also visited a number of quarantine centers at the District and interacted with the people staying in the quarantine centers. The Chief Minister was accompanied by MLA Rongara Siju Constituency Shri Rakkam Sangma, MLA Chokpot Constituency, Shri Lazarus M Sangma and Member of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Shri Sengnal N Sangma. During the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed about restarting of economic activities while taking stock of the COVID-19 situation in the international border. He stated that once the border is open and the economic activities begins, the people of the area need to be prepared for any situation that may arise in the future as the District lies in the international border. But most importantly people need to adapt to it and the general public needs to be sensitized on the matter but the elderly people, people with co-morbidities, children and lactating mothers need to be taken care of, he added.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured that two more ambulances will be provided to the South Garo Hills District and said that sufficient funds will be made available to all the Districts in fighting against COVID-19. He also said that the Government is prioritizing the Health Sector and the target is to give ambulances to all the PHCs and CHCs throughout the State even as he urged upon health workers to continue the normal health services and to balance between Corona cases and other health issues in the District. Earlier the Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills District, Shri H.B.Marak informed the Chief Minister that in South Garo Hills District there are 33 numbers of quarantine centers and 23 community quarantine centers where 120 inmates are stationed in different institutional quarantine centers.

CHIEF MINISTER HOLDS REVIEW MEETING AT RESUBELPARA

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma held a brief review meeting today afternoon with officials of the District Administration in the presence of Deputy Speaker, Shri Timothy D. Shira, MLAs, Shri Rupert Momin and Shri Pongseng Marak, Deputy CEM, GHADC, Smti Dolly Marak and GHADC Executive Member, Sukaram Sangma.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister thanked the District Administration for putting in extra effort to deal with the current unprecedented situation that the nation is facing due to COVID-19. He also said that at this time of crisis we need strong leadership, capable administration and disciplined society.

The Chief Minister also visited the Corona Care Centre at ITI Campus at Daram locality of Resubelpara during which villagers interacted and shared their concerns and were advised to take precautionary steps to protect themselves.
