FIRST PHASE TRAINING ON UPSCALING AAPPDA MITRA SCHEME IN RI BHOI DISTRICT ENDED

A twelve days trainings of community volunteers for the First Batch on Disaster Response under the scheme Upscaling Aapda Mitra which has been launched in Ri Bhoi District on the 6th June at State Institute of Rural Development,, Nongsder has came to an end today the 18th June, in a midst presence of Shri Arpit Upadhyay IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Smt. K.Wanniang DDMO, Smt. M.Kharkongngor, Consultant DDMA and Shri P.H Shylla, Divisional Commandant Incharge Homeguards and others.

This Twelve days Trainings which has been started from 6th to 18th June 2022 has been organized by the District Disaster Management Authority, Ri Bhoi District where about 33 community volunteers from different locality of the district took part in the First Batch Training.

Smt. K.Wanniang, DDMO in her speech reminded that the aims of the training is to provide the community volunteers with the basic skills that they would need to respond to their community in time of emergency incident occurred. She also informed that only Five Districts of the State have been selected for launching this Upscaling Aapda Mitra scheme, in which Ri Bhoi District is one among them and about 100 volunteers from Ri Bhoi District have been registered for training under the scheme Aapda Mitra.

The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District while speaking at the gathering, reminded of the earthquake happened at Gujarat in the past years which had taken the life of many people and many other disasters had also happened in many areas, due to these incidents that has taken placed, the government has taken up the initiatives to bring about trainings for volunteers under this Aapda Mitra scheme in order to train the community volunteers who would be as the first responders to combat the prevailing situation in the locality. He briefed the subject disaster by saying that disaster is a sudden events occurred and disrupted the normal life of the people. Hence by having volunteers who have been imparted with proper trainings would be an assets to cater an emergency need of the people during disaster. He further said that trained volunteers will be the leaders to respond to any emergency demanded by the people and the community.

Lastly, he congratulated to all trainees and wishes them success in their future life. The day ended with the distribution of Certificates to all the trainees and also awarded with trophy for the Best Group and Best Volunteer.
