WORKSHOP HELD

Shillong, July 11, 2011: A four-day workshop on Building of Employee Database of the State got underway on July 11, 2011 at U Soso Tham, Auditorium, Shillong. The workshop is being organized by the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries. Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr. W M S Pariat, IAS, attended the workshop as the Chief Guest in the presence of Meghalaya Additional Chief Secretary Mr. B K Dev Verma, Sr. Technical Director & SIO, NIC, MSC Shillong Mr. T Dkhar, Director of Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. K S Momin and Director of Finance, Mr. P A Sawian.

It may be mentioned that the objective of organizing the workshop is to create the Database is to provide dynamic information on employees and pensioners and their entitlement. It also will guide and provide the Treasury Officers and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDO’s) and their office staff with adequate information to fill up the required information correctly in the database template.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Pariat said that technology plays an important role in discharging official work effectively and efficiently in day to day work. Stressing on the need to have a in the line department, he observed that it will provide a proper data and statistic in projecting, planning and for estimating the economy of the state. He also opined that it will help to checking the state expenditure accurately from time to time. He also said that the information collected by the Drawing and Disbursing Officers could be up-to-date through this software he added.

PADMA AWARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED

Shillong, July 11, 2011: TheDeputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed that Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2012. The Awards seek to recognize work of any distinction and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields of disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry, etc. All persons without any distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.

Intending individuals from the Distict who desire their names to be recommended to the Government for the award are to send their nominations to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong on or before the 15th September, 2011.

SK OIL DISTRIBUTED

Shillong, July 12, 2011: The Deputy Commissioner Supply, East Khasi Hills District has informed the public consumers of the District that SK Oil for the month of July 2011 has been released and will be distributed through the SK Oil Retailers to all Family Identity Card Holders in urban area and households in rural area at the rate of Rs. 16.55 per litre in urban area and Rs. 17.60 in rural area. The scale of issue of SK Oil in urban areas is fixed at 7 litres per card while in rural areas the scale of issue may be determined by the Local Durbar or Vigilance Committee in consultation with respective SK Oil retailers.

All SK Oil Retailers should distribute the oil to all APL, BPL and AAY card holders in their respective areas. The above arrangements will continue until further orders.

Any non-supply of SK Oil by the retailers as instructed above may be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner Supply, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong alongwith the details.

Shillong, July 12, 2011: The Government of Meghalaya has announced the conduct of election to the Municipality of Williamnagar on 23rd August, 2011 as per programme mentioned below. This was informed by the Principal Secretary, Meghalaya Urban Affairs Department.

The date of publication of Draft Electoral Rolls is 13.07.2011, last date of filing claims and objections is 20.07.2011, last date for disposal of claims and objections is 27.07.2011 and final publication of electoral rolls is 01.08.2011.

Filing of nomination papers is from 1st to 6th August, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, date of scrutiny of nomination papers is 09.08.2011 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, date of publication of validly nominated candidates is after 4:00 PM on 09.08.2011, last date of withdrawal of candidature is 12.08.2011 till 3:00 PM, date of allotment of symbols is 12.08.2011, date of publication of list of contesting candidates is 12.08.2011 and the last date of campaigning is upto 4:00 PM of 21.08.2011. Polling will be held on 23.08.2011 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, date of re-poll, if any is on 24.08.2011. Counting of votes will be held on 25.08.2011.

COACHING FOR CIVIL SERVICES PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION 2012

Shillong, July 12, 2011: Applications for admission into the All India Services Pre Examination Training Centre AISPETC, MATI, Shillong are invited from candidates, both male and female, belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, OBCs of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Bihar, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal. Candidates whose parents are Safaiwallas who are eligible to appear at the UPSC Civil Services qualifying Examination 2012 are also eligible for admission into the Centre. The coaching will be imparting Arts, Science and Commerce subjects through English medium. Candidates who have at least passed the Degree Examination with a minimum of 50 percent average marks in aggregate and who have not undergone training or have undergone training only once in any of the Pre Examination Training Centres in the country and who intend to apply for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2012 will be eligible for consideration for enrolment into the Centre for coaching for the said competitive examination.

The applicants should apply or should have applied to the Union Public Service Commission UPSC for admission into the CS Preliminary Examination 2012 within the time frame fixed by the UPSC. No hostel facilities are available, but the out station trainees admitted into the coaching course will be eligible for a stipend of Rs. 700only per month and local trainees a monthly stipend of Rs. 225 per month subject to their fulfilling the prescribed terms and conditions of attendance, income limit etc., indicated in the guidelines displayed in the notice board of the Centre.

The last date for receipt of application in the prescribed form is within 15th July, 2011 for the coaching in the Centre. Printed application form may be obtained from the Office of the Director, AISPETC on a written request accompanied with a self addressed envelope 23cm x 10cm bearing Rs. 10 postage stamp.
